I read an article in Missouri Game and Fish, they say winter is the best time to fish for bass on Wappapello because the Corps of Engineers draws the lake down consentrating the fish. The only thing you have to worry about is your lower unit if in a boat(tree stumps). Start you search around structure near boat ramps, they also say you don't have to venture very far, hope it helps and Good Luck

Jim, Crappie are biting now. The Corps draws the lake down starting in mid to late Dec. to basically just a river. Not many folks catfishin' it now but plenty of crappie fishing going on. once the corps starts bringing it up to summer pool the catfishin' gets better. the flats and coves start covering w/ water and the fish move in. had a lot of fun running limb lines down there in the heat of summer. if you've never been on the lake, go slow, lot of shallow spots. Good fishin!!
