I am different on this. I would get a handheld say like a H2OC instead of a combination GPS/depth finder. I have the H2O with a navonics chip and I use it when I fish however I use the GPS more when I am driving then fishing because I drive more then I fish. I took a 500 mile trip to go fishing on the Canada border and that GPS was on the entire time.

hey brian, I just got a eagle fish elite 500/502 color sonar/gps combo
haven't hooked it up yet but played with it at the store. so far so good.
I wanted a color fish finder and luck up and got a color combo for under $500
The real test will come when you get out on the water.
good luck buddy hope you find a nice one
