From the MDC web site:
$50 Catfish Reward Tags
In an effort to monitor catfish movement and angler harvest rates in Truman Reservoir, the Missouri Department of Conservation tagged 300 blue catfish in 2004 and 162 flathead catfish in 2005. These fish were tagged near the dorsal (top) fin with laminated oval tags. Blue catfish were tagged with fluorescent yellow tags and flathead catfish were tagged with white tags. These tags are worth $50 each. If you catch a reward tagged catfish, please follow these steps to claim your $50 reward:
Remove the oval tag from the fish (you can discard the wire). You can harvest or release the fish according to your normal preference. Either way, remove the oval tag and keep it secure. You will have to send in the tag to get the reward.
Make note of exactly where you caught the fish. One of the reasons for this tagging study is to track catfish movement in the reservoir, so an accurate description of where you caught the fish is important.
Make note of the total length of the fish (tip of mouth to the tip of the tail with the tail lobes pressed together)
Make note of whether you harvested or released the fish.
Call the Conservation Office in Clinton (660-885-6981) and we will provide you with a reward tag form to fill out and mail in.
You can also bring the tag by any of the local MDC offices (Lost Valley Hatchery, Sedalia, Springfield, Kansas City, El Dorado Springs, etc.) and they will provide you a form to fill out and mail in
