Went out to the barge last Saturday....kids wanted to soo I did. Sure was glad that I did. I watched the best sky show.....Lightning all over the place with thunder rolling. It was wonderful! Started to rain around 12:15am, and I was outside in it! Never had rain felt so good. By the time I went inside the barge it was pouring down! Wonderful Wonderful rain.
It's suppose to rain again Thursday, so I'm praying with all my heart for more rain. We sure do need it....saw a horrible grassfire not this weekend, of course, but the last weekend. Could see from the east side of the Fishing barge.
Was so good to wake up Sunday and see that rain coming down.

1 1/2" here also. Forgot to tie the boat cover down, and I had to bail out 15 5gal. buckets of water from the jon. Didn't bug me too bad, we need the rain.

T-bone you need to get you a bilge pump and install in that thing or leve the plug out while its on land.:) :)
T-Bone
01-29-2006, 07:59 PM
Wallard I did have the plug out. I've got one of those blue tarps from Wallie World and have a pvc frame made up to fit the inside of the jon. The tarp fits nicely when the pvc is in place. I had the tarp drapped over the boat (no pvc), so when it rained the tarp fell inside the boat and acted like a kidie pool to hold the water.
A bilge pump is in the plans also.

It sure is nice to see some of this wet stuff. It really helps out my business too, it will keep us busy making money for a change.
We need it for the fires and our lakes but I'm ready to go FISHING !!!
I hope it stays wet enough for our gathering in Texoma in April but have nice days for fishing at the gathering.
Looking forward to meeting the brothers.
Have a good day all

I like to see the rain for now, it helps put oxygen back in the water for the fish and makes them bite better. Hope we don't end up with a drought by summer again this year, we need a better year for fishing our lakes.

If the lake is getting 1/2 as much as my yard then this should be really good! Man, Lake Bursik should be ready for fish in a day or 2.

Hey T-Bone, we are getting so wet over here in east Ft Worth that I got my little 10ft pelican boat out just in case we get flooded out. I love all this rain but to much at one time just causes problems with flooding. I'm not to far away from Bell Helicopter and it flood real bad down there, they always close the road cause it gets that bad but I'm pretty safe where I live, way up on a hill but I may have to break out the 10 footer to get the wife to work tomorrow morning, LOL
Have a good one
P.S. Are you going to be at the gathering in Texoma ?? I will be there.

I have spent a few hours doing flood control. We have had about 7" this weekend, over 5" in a few hours. My backyard was under water,in some places over a foot deep. The street in front of the house was about 3" over the curb.

My creek has started running, the ponds are rising and just checked the website for the Sabine River and it has come up a foot today. Hope Tawakoni gets enough water so that I can use the ramp at Holiday because I made up some new jugs that need to get wet.

Hey Al, looks like another round coming your way ! Yes I plan to be there, looks like by my self though, my buddy has gotta work.
Hello David. I think Tawakoni will rise some after all this ends. My spot on the north end is way way way out of the water. I'd like to think 9" of rain will do it some good.
Heck Joe Pool is releasing at lot of water, mountain creek lake right below J.Pool is flooding also.

We will be looking forward to seeing you at the gathering.
Coloman is a good high school friend of mine and he says he'll be there most likely for 1 day (Saturday).
I know we'll have a good time that weekend as long as the rain stays away.

My rain gauge reads just a little over 9 inches. They are saying more is coming within the next few hours. We have gotten so much rain the last two days I can not see ground in my back yard. I walked out into it and it is well above my ankles.
