I have some bad news Fluffy the Pink lipped pup can't make it this time. He was hit by a train and was put in the pound for impeading traffic, and inciting a riot. I couldn't afford his bail of 1,000,000.00 so he has to do his time in the big puppy house, LOL!!!!
I am begining to think this dog is more trouble than he is worth:rolleyes:

hey guys I think I will be able to join you on the 18th. I'm new to catchin skipjacks. could someone tell me what i need to bring and maybe some direction from bowling green ky. thanks for your help !!
DeerHunter01
02-14-2006, 04:18 PM
smells like old liver!
Bring a ultra light rod and reel with about 12 pound test line with some small jig's maybe green white and yellow in color, and bring a cooler with you and get a bag of ice to pack them on.
You want to take 68 out of Bowling Green and then merge onto I-24 West until you get to 641 and take it south towards Kentucky Dam stay right on that road for about 10 miles and you will see Barkley Dam on the left hand side you will cross the bridge over the Cumberland river and after that you will turn onto a four lane road, keep watching on the left hand side about 1 1/2 on the left will be the Pelican and Kens bait and tackle, pull into there. just tell them in the Pelican that your with the BOC and they will show you the room we will be in.
Hope to see you there.

02-15-2006, 10:11 AM
If you guys dont mind I would like to alter the directions that D.H. gave just a little bit.
From Bowling Green take 68-80 to Hopkinsville then follow 68-80 to I24 at Cadiz, take I24 NORTH to the #40 exit at Kuttaw/Eddyville, Exit right and turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto US 62, follow 62 until you cross the Cumberland river below Barkley dam, it is another couple of miles to the Pelican which will be on your left just past the intersection in Lake City.

Well I got home alright. But geting there was a drive to say the least. I got to the south side of Mount Vernon IL and the snow was comiong down like crazy. Hard to see and the roads went from bad to worse. 45 MPH was max. Henry and I were 30 minutes late. The food was good, the BS was deep and the coffee was hot. The weather put the skippies in the hibernating mood. The temp was so cold that you had to knock the ice out of your guides every other cast. No skippies this time. Most of the guys went on down to the cumberland steam plant to fish for skips. On the trip home the roads were clear sailing.
Hey JW I got the cows milked . Also I am going to hold you to that fishing trip we talked about.
Great seeing everyone again and meeting those that I havent met before.
