I've been bow hunting twice this year. Last Saturday I saw 9 deer (5 does, 4 bucks) and yesterday afternoon I saw another 7 (5 does, 2 bucks) for a total of 16 so far. I thought it would be interesting to try to keep a running count of deer seen while hunting, (I saw another 5 on the drive home but I don't count them). Anyone else interested in keeping track, post your sightings here. This could get very interesting.

I seen a couple on the tracks the other day. They must have been resting. Do they count.

Lets see four days early muzzleloader season in Kansas two small bucks and a doe,
So far Bow season in MO saw 5 does/fawns first trip out then zero the next 5 trips before Sat, saw six does/little ones and finally able to bring one home. nice mature Doe. With meat in the freezer its time to get serious. Good luck to all out there

I counted up the sightings in my hunting log...since the end of September I have seen 16 does and 2 bucks in 3 trips out to the 100 acres that I hunt. Hot weather is definitely affecting the herd movement, when things cool down more permenantly I expect to see alot more. I'll keep it updated.

I saw three does and two yearlings in one group yesterday... no bucks. They were headed my way along a ridge when some jackass slammed his cardoor. They immediately went off the ridge away from the sound. Some people never learn....:confused2:

Went out with riverdawg1 (Chip) last Friday afternoon in a pouring rain. Right before dark a fat Doe suddenly appeared 20 yards in front of my stand. She gave me a good quartering away shot. I saw the arrow bury itself in her left side. She bucked, turned 90 degrees and tore off down the hill. By the time I got my gear packed up, got my stand down from the tree, and hiked back to the truck for a bigger flashlight, whatever blood trail there was had been washed away. Chip and I looked for her for an hour, both of us soaked to the skin, with no luck. I wanted to go back in the morning and look after sun up but my wife and I had to leave first thing the next morning for our daughters in Virginia Beach. I really hate loosing a deer, but I know that with all the bears, bobcats, yotes, foxes, etc. in the area, she'll get eaten. That makes 35 from the stand so far.

I killed a doe saturday night. when i met my buddy back at my truck he told me he shot one too. we picked up mine first, since i seen her go down. we went and got a couple more flashlights. then went to look for his. it looks like he made a slightly quartering towards shot. hitting back a little far. the arrow was totally red. but there was some stomach stuff on the arrow and the ground. there was a good blood trail for awhile, but it thinned making it hard to track. we searched for hours. finding huge puddles of blood where she was laying. several spots where she fell. i was sure she'd expire soon. Then we heard a pack of coyotes tearing something apart. guess what it was?? lol, i just hope the deer died first. That's bowhunting!

I saw #36 today. I rattled in a spike with about 14 inch horns. The thing stopped 40 yards out and just laid down. I called and called for the next hour or so (9:50-11:00) and the deer wouldn't move. Finally it walked off. I was about to get out of the stand and had packed up my stuff when I heard something behind me. Here comes the spike again! He came to about 15 yards behind me and I just waited hoping that he would pass by and give me a good shot at his back. Nothing doing! He stopped, looked up at me and just stood there for the next 10 minutes; I froze. When he turned and presented a broad side shot, I fired. The arrow went right over him! I can't seem to win this year.

Got in the woods about 4 today after work and saw #30 and 31. #31 is about to get cut up. I shot a big doe at about 20 yards, with a bow, perfect shot went down in about 35 yards within sight. It was the first of the year!

sunday i saw 3 small bucks, 3 medium sized does, and one good sized doe. I saw the big doe first but she never came back my way. 1 of the bucks came by me at about 5-8 yards, never saw me. Im a big believer in leafy wear/3-d camo now. Im pretty sure the other 2 small bucks were twins. looked exactly the same. Im goin sat. and sun. this weekend, they shoulda started chasin by now so hopefully ill see a little action. still waitin on that big one tho.
Total-
Oct. 1st- 2 does
Oct 28th- 4 Does, 3 small bucks
9 deer in 2 trips, not bad.

I was doing some fall shotgun turkey hunting/deer scouting this weekend. Sunday morning I saw 23 deer and 2 huge coyotes. Sunday afternoon I saw 12 deer and 6 turkeys. Only 5 of those deer had horns. None of them over 6pts. However, I saw trees that had been thrashed that had to have been done by an elk...but we dont have elk in this part of the state...so im pretty excited.
I did get a jake tuesday morning. 5in beard weighed 17lbs. Tasted even better!

Thursday I saw #36, a spike that came to rattling horns, then laid down 40 yards behind me and wouldn't move for an hour. He finally got up and moved off down the mountain. An hour later while I was packing up to leave the tree, he came back and started walking right to me. At 15 yards he saw me but didn't spook. I froze and waited 10 minutes for him to come past me for a good shot or give me something besides a head on shot. He finally turned broadside and I shot. The arrow went right over his back!
Friday I was back in the same area. After sitting awhile I did some scouting. I wandered into an area with great sign and jumped #'s 37,38,39,40. I was climbing over a huge rock formation at the top of the mountain and looked down on a real big buck that had already heard me and was leaving. #41. Then on the way out of there I saw #42 running down the mountain.
Yesterday was muzzle loader opener. Took a 5 pointer out of the game, #43.

went out this morning and the deer were everywhere on the road, it was like a mule deer parade. we counted 31 in all. saw a big hog on the way in too. those don't count on the count, but it was cool to see. while actually hunting i saw 8 deer, all mulies. 3 were really decent bucks and one was a little bitty buck, the rest were does. mule deer doesn't open till the 17th of this month, so it was just a deer watching day and a four mile walk. good luck to all.

saw numbers 7 and 8 yesterday morning, to little does. didnt shoot them. then today i saw 9-13 a NICE buck and 4 does. woulda shoot the buck definately and would have settled with any of the does, prolly 120-140 pounds. The buck was to far away to count points let alone shoot but he was amazing. the first time ive ever seen a big buck while hunting. Then on the way out i saw a little 5, didnt shoot him either. But im done till Deer camp on the 17th, opening day of firearms.

Hunted with a muzzleloader al day today and saw #35 and 36. The first one was a really small doe. The second was a nice buck. I couldn't tell exactly how big, but his antlers were spread out wider than his ears. It was a 100 yards or so away coming through a thicket and could catch site of him now and then. Then I hear something right behind me, I turn around and it's an old man tresspassing. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled to see him, never saw the buck after that.
