I was out and about and seen Hoover is down by 10 feet, Buckeye is down a few and real nasty scum on it. Dillion is still down a little but still deep. Does Dillion lake sound like a good place and who owns boats or does everyone want to bank fish?? Also are we going to do a pot luck or just come to fish?

well desperado,as of right now the only thing that is keeping us off the water more is the price of gas!pick the time and place and i'll do all i can to join you!business has been really slow,and so has the dough.
we hit hoover last night and struck out on cats :sad: and to make matters worse i lost a whopper of a muskie! :cursing: !AAAHHHHH!!!!! i will never use cajun red line again!the worst part of all is i just topped off the spool of my baitcaster to get a bit more distance.under it was 50# spider stealth.it hit on a 6" chub and i have never heard a bobber go pop like that when something hit it!had it to the top once and caught a glimpse before it shredded the line.
the hoover curse lives on!
if we hit the water remind me to tell you about the buffalo sucker that scared the livin daylights out of the ex wife,she never fished again!

Johnny (Ramrod)it is good to see you made it over here, and Welcome. Dillion lake is a good lake for cats. Tony and I drift the lake around the edges of the deep holes and do pretty good. Hunter, sounds like a real good story about the ex. I know the gas prices are high and we need to try to pick a lake that is central to all so the gas useage is low. Maybe if we have enough people that want to come with a boat we can put everyones name in a hat that doesn't have a boat and the people with a boat draws a name and that who there partner will be. So that way people will get to know somebody new they haven't fished with before or just find a large bank area and fish like no other. Ideas please?

Ok, I'm going with Sept. 2nd. I was thinking about meeting at buckeye lake or Dillion Lake. What does everyone think. After we decide the lake I will find a place for all of us to meet. So since a date is set which lake do you think?

I would love to get out myself, I just work every other weekend I am off this weekend but we are celebrating my daughters first birthday and a whole lot of family will be here this weekend. I will keep looking back and see if a date has been picked and I will try and go if it works out

Ok, guys here is the plan........The get together is going to be Sept. 2nd. At the North shore ramp area 7 pm at Buckeye lake. The time is flexible just let me know. Talking to a few that want to come some want to bank fish and some want to fish from a boat. Let's meet at the North shore ramp area and bs a bit. Then the ones that want to bank fish can bank fish and the ones that go out in the boats can do so. Hopefully we have enough boats for the bankers. But it should be fun. I didn't see anyone wanting to have a pot luck , so you will need to bring food for yourself and guests.

Directions to the North shore ramp area....Take 70 to the Buckeye Lake exit and go south toward the lake and you will go though light and then come to a stop sign. Go though it and your going in to the entrance of the north shore ramp area. Follow it around and find a place to park. i will be over by the shelter houses next to the restrooms. Please let me know if your coming and about what time. I'm going out eariler to save a spot, so please let me know. Thanks guys and hope to see some of you out there and meet some new BOC members!! ;)

I work on Saturdays but would be interested in finally getting out. I dont have a boat. I have only been out once this year because of the crappy weather and all. I work outside in it all day so sitting in it at night and getting eatin alive watching a pole not move has been one of the last things on my mind. So if you come up with a date I will surely try my darndest to make it out.

we are going to be out at buckeye lake next week to do some fishin and bull slingin so i was wandering is there any flatties out in that lake?should i bring some live bait?

there are flats in buckeye but they arent fished for regularly, the channels are hitting real good right now, the best bait would be dip bait and cutbait thats what we are catching them on.chubs shiners bluegill fillets are all good

we have been doing real well on cut chubs and shad mostly and stinkbait at times in shallow water and deep water for the cut-bait

hope you guys have some rain gear!looks like katrina might be paying us a visit.forecasters are calling for 2-5"of rain tuesday-wednesday,but if ohio luck holds true it will be 5-12" friday night! :eek: !if it's done by then the fish will probably be shallow,giving us bank fishermen a chance.
i really hope it is past us by then because i have noticed the cats and other fish seem to turn off during hurricane induced rainy weather.even though everything looks perfect.this seemed to be the case the last two years anyway.anyone else noticed this?
hurricane or not,i'll be out catching as many gills as i can thursday!

by the grace of the huntress;looks like i will make it!and if the almighty schedulers see fit,she will too!her birthday was thursday and if the powers that be know what's good for them,they will give her her requested day off!
either way,it looks like i will actually make it.
the huntress has a light line technique that rivals the best i have seen.i hope the fishing gods see fit to include her in the first annual "catfish1" fishing expedition!
petrol is accounted for,now i just hope we can afford bait!or at least catch some!
i like the idea of flatheads in buckeye.they are scarse everywhere but i'll bet they act just like other ohio flatheads.dusk and dawn feeding hours,love 4-6"bait,and hate near shoreline noise.interesting!wish i had a r/c boat i could attach a fishfinder to!
are there any dropoffs near shore in buckeye?

how high is the water now?
looks like the good spot is where fairfield co.rd. intersects licking co.rd.just at the east tip of that island.
this is just from the maps,but something should be there this time of year.

Many thanks to clarance for organizing the get together at buckeye lake!Wendy and I only caught a few channels but had a wonderful time meeting everyone!hopefully we can make it to the next event as well.jason picked up a few nice cats using shad guts,and after a taste of them i think they were spoiled to all other baits(insert other excuses here :rolleyes: ) .can't wait til next time!
