Mississippi River help

I will be in tunica in two weeks and looking for the closes ramp on the mississippi in the tunica area and any help on the best way to fish the river I have fish the missouri river for many many years but this will be my first time on the mississippi river and also the best place to find bait on the river or should i bring bait with me .THANKS

sure would be nice if u could put ur trip off till the 28th of sept ..... couple of us are gonna be up that way fishing outa the campground due west of tunica ...... boat ramp is at the campground ........... i've never caught any bait up there , so u may wanna bring ur own..............

Hi Ron. The closest boat ramp is mhoon landing. If you're heading south on hwy 61, then turn west (right) just after Battle Arena next to Southern Motors. Stay on that road and you'll cross the levee and run directly into the river. I haven't fished that far south in a boat, but i've had the most luck upstream near Memphis by fishing the wingdykes. I try to find where the water is rushing through a break in the dyke. That usually creates a pretty deep hole. Good Luck!!!!!

Fish the seams of the current. On the dykes that are broke, check the depths and be looking for small fish (shad,skips,etc) breaking the surface. I have found on these dykes that it may be 11-16ft all around there beside the dyke then that "scour" hole may be 21-28ft. Most of the ones that I have found are broken at least half way up the dyke towards the bank. Look also for cuts in the banks, most of these have reverse current spots. I hope this helps some!:wink:

Hi Ron. I made a mistake about the boat ramp... I think. I went out there this past weekend and the boat ramp is not there anymore. They have turned it into a park. I didn't cruise the whole park, but the boat ramp is not where it used to be. I didn't see one at all. I definitely wanna apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused.

I found this list of MS access points to the river. It looks to me like there are several other ramps in the same area as Mhoon.

Cecil, Right before you enter the park, go right like going to the old casino, the ramp is over there, not in the park.

Thank,s guy for the help went there last week and found the ramp used it the first day and then went to tunica and used the riverboat ramp the rest of the week
