My name is Colin and I live in Sunrise, Fort lauderdale in Broward county and have fished since I was 2 years old.I love catfishing and fish the local canals and lakes but haven't caught anything bigger than a 5lb hardhead. Can anyone help me?Does anyone one know anywhere in my area that holds sizeable cats.

Thanks for the welcomes.I usualy catch bullhead, walking catfish, channels and hardhead and gafttop cats. The only place I know For big cats in my area are several parks that are managed by the FWC and stocked annually with channel cats.Their have been several ten 10lb plus fish caught from them but I can't catch anything over a few pounds.
If any one can help me out, dont be shy.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. It seems not many people are familiar with south florida.Down here we aren't known for catfishing, but are known for exotic species. There are around 30 know to be in our water with some were around 25 with breeding populations. But I have always thought that the canal system and the everglades down here would be perfect for cats but I have never here anyone fihing for them.

Back in the 60's I lived on the trail in Sweatwater fla. Right on the tamiami canal I use bacon mostly for bait and could always count on dinner of bullhead cats .
I don't remember catching any other type of cat ,But I was into eatten not peaken so there may have been a few channel cat in the pile.
