the old locks on the ohio, some of the old concrete is still above water. the long walls that parallel the river, is the lock side or the dam side? i'm thinking its the lock side but i may be wrong?

typically which side has more structure remaining?
thanks for any input

From what I have run across, that is the lock side. Also, the area upstream may have 3 concrete piers. They are capped with metal (upstream side). This was to break up sheets of ice before it ran into the lock.

If you find the structure if they left any, you have "struck gold" in my opinion. That is if they left large concrete slabs & stone that was blown up and not removed it.

I'm looking to check out #11-13 on the Ohio River and see what there.

Teamclose,

Let me know what areas you are asking about and I can give you all the information that you need be it the Markland pool or the Meldhal pool. To help you out the control station which back then were the red brick buildings are always located on the lock side of the dam almost all the old dams have the lock stations still there............Doc
