Several years ago I picked up a book by Des Pawson called "Field Guide to Knots." Excellent step-by-step instructions for all kinds of knots, bends, hitches, etc. HIGHLY recommend it.

The following site is a goldmine for info on tying knots. There are several sites linked to this one that are worth checking out.

http://www.fishing.sh/htmfiles/knots/snelling.html

Just curious, what knot do you favor? I've started using the snelling knot for my present setup with two hooks and a weight at the end. Its easy to tie and I have not had one to fail.

Dean thanks for sharing. I suggest you get some larger string and do info demos at the next Rend Gathering.

There is a great article in the latest Saltwater Sportsman magazine that gives the results of an extensive test of some common knots.Interestingly enough there were only 2 knots that earned the highest rating over all for joining two line together like braid and mono. All the others earned 4 stars for strenght of line hook connection. The breaking strength of the line is interesting also.Worth the price of the magazine.:smile2:
