Hello all! Im new to the site (as a member), but have been checking it out for a few months now. I want to tell everyone thanks for the wealth of information that i have picked up. I live in Walls, MS and have been fishing for most of my life, but have just recently began fishing the Big Waters of the mighty Mississip in search of Big cats. So far, i haven't had a whole bunch of luck. I'm just catching average sized channel cats. I'd really like to find a healthy flathead. Any suggestions on some good locations south of Memphis would be greatly appreciated. Also... tips on bait would be most helpful. Thanks again folks.

Welcome to the BOC Hooked! Good to see some more Mississippi boys and girls kicking around on here. A few more folks, and we'll need a roll call!
I don't know much about flatheads. You might check with Coach. He fishes for them a lot....

I can tell you what I've learned from him, when it comes to channels: If you're catching channels, it's time to move! Might find a flat, or a blue, but more than likely, you're just gonna find another channel!

Good luck, and if you ever come down to Greenville, give us a holler and we'll meet up!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Still huntin the big 'un. Went fishing last week and for the first time ever...didn't catch a thing. fished for 8 solid hours with no luck. I think the goldfish were too small. does anyone know a secret for keeping "catfish dynamite" on your hook? anyways, thanks again.

Dynamite is one of my favorite channelcat baits.Try to find a cloth material store, look for that netlike material used to make prom & wedding dresses.Cut small squares out and put a spoonfull of bait in it ,wrap a rubberband around make it like a pouch and put the hook through it.This has produced for me.:0a26:
