has anyone been catching any kats? i have a buddy says he's caught a couple 30's there already this year. but it's hard telling he's been known to tell a few fish stories..any info would be appreciated.thanks

I have never seen a Flathead caught out of that lake.I have caught some eater Channels there before not been up that way since last year.

yeah boy there is some monster cats in that lake. Just last year I caught two over 40# and had one take my pole over the boat, "Boy what a dozzy." I use bluegill, but I take a knife and very carefully cut the bottom of there stomach open and get all the guts out. Then, I take some cheese and fill the gill full of it. Then, finally I wrap a rubber band around it to keep the cheese inside the gill the blue cats lovethis. Try it I think this is one of the best kept secrets there is. Good luck fishin'. Have alot of luck just up the road at the flea market. LMAO Usually get some good deals. But never fished the lake.

ive fished it a few times nothing to big but have caught some nice channels and a few flats

I used to fish there quite a bit just below the mouth of the creek. We caught some channels and small flatheads there. Also caught a lot of nice channels right at the outer edge of the public beach at night. There are several old submerged road beds (most are shown on lake maps) that produce good channels as well. The one that sticks out in my mind is the old Harveysburg road it dead ends into the lake and is very accessable, and forms a decent sized cove right beside it. Down toward the dam to the left there is a long cut back with some submerged timber that always seemed to give up some nice fish as the water is deep but right on the breaks is a good bet. Also down at what we used to call the dam ramp (don't remember the proper name) it is the one closest to the dam there is a lot of rock and rip rap that turn up some real nice fish from time to time. Keep in mind that was several years ago, not sure how the lake has changed since then. I will look to see if I have some of my old lake maps, if I have I can be more specific. I used to hunt all that land before it was flooded with my Dad and a lot of the fence rows and farm structures were left in tact. I will try to pick Dad's brain about some of the old structures as well.

thanks mudcat i went out last night and tried what u said i caught 3 blues 5lb,7lb,and16.5 i was over by the dam.thanks again.if ur ever in the area get a hold of me we can hit the water..

hey mudcat,what kind of cheese are you stuffing those gills with?sounds interesting!
i guess if the fish aren't biting you could put em on a stick and roast em like marshmallows for a shore lunch! ;)

I usually just use american cheese fold the slices over and stack em' as full as you can get em' I would say anykind of cheese would work though. Especially if you could find that cheese that they made the sayin up " who cut the cheese," cause apparently that stuff stinks and would probably work great.
