New to the boc

i need help on locating shad in the rivers and lakes i always fish i have spots to find them but when you go to a new lake or river what do you look for to find your shad and skip jack i know they run around the dmas and spilllways but other locations

Welcome to the BOC, brother. I have always had luck in the back of shallow wind blown coves. OR where ever there is fresh water coming in, like after a rain. Besides that watch for the birds and boils!!

oh i think i will i love to catfish i used to be a bass fisherman but it takes awhole lot more skill to catch a 40lb flathead

First welcome to the BOC. Now as to your question, two other places I have seen schools of shad are just inside the mouths of creeks with flow coming out into the river. Of course, I have not had luck actually catching any of them. My throw net skills are exactly zero right now!
