Burns Point is a state park located between New Iberia and Morgan city south of Hwy. 90 right on the coast. My boss, Tommy, and his friends and family spend a lot of time there. I've only been there once and it was pretty nice. If your interested, let me know and I'll get you the particulars from Tommy.

You can either post or PM me the info. We will be most appreciative. I found a little info on line, but not much. Word of mouth by someone who has been there is the best of info. We were going to try to go to Grand Isle State Park, but it is booked up until August. Also, we would rather have a park with full hook ups. I think I saw where Burns had FHUs. At Grand Isle we would have had to load up and go dump the tanks every few days.

.....Sure, Will, No gambling....We believe you! Really though, it sounds like a great trip you're planning. Please put on pictures when you can, so we can enjoy it too!

I don't plan on gambling, but I have picked up a few bucks there before. We had a place there in Jena, and I would run over to the casino for entertainment while I was there mowing the place. Always liked it there because it is on one level. Maybe just a couple bucks!

I might! :embarassed: What is this I read about Buddy being a BASS member? I never would have known had the big news not been released here on the BOC! Buddy, we will have to hook up & go sometime! :big_smile_2:

Actually, there is a benefit tourney on the river out of Clark's Friday for a Shreveport Firefighter that was diagnosed with Leukemia. I was wanting to fish that one but could not get off work! First place is a crawfish boil for 100 people that was donated by one of the local crawfish places. They even have a band hired to play the crawfish boil. Just imagine....that would be one heck of a BOC party! Buddy...get on out there & win it for us!

Roxie...Honey do's are about done...the last weekend I have cleaned decks, siding & patio furniture. Got caught up on yardwork, replaced two perfectly good kitchen lights with fluorescent lights that now light up half of Bellevue when I turn them on. Also, I ended up replacing two perfectly good cieling fans with new ones...What happened to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"?

I will be fishing REAL soon!

Buddy, you got to get out there and win this one for us. I promise you I won't harrass you about bass fishing ever again if you win it. You'll probably be elegible for a discount on the entry fee with that O-ficcial B.A.S.S. sticker on your van.

Well I'm goin this mornin to get my boat, I called up there late yesterday, asked if they had got on it yet. They say well we are havein problems gettin parts for any thing older than 1985, I say it's not an 85, it's a 95 model. They answer back, they are still havein problems with 85 model parts, can't find em. Once again I say it's a 95 model, I take the guy out to show him my boat, show him it's a 95 model, he sees' it's a 95, and I get the same answer about the 85 model stuff. So when I got back home, I called another guy I know ask him if hes' been havein problems gettin parts, he told me hes' had no problem, and if if bring it in Wednesday, he would have it done by Friday, so guess where I'm takein it today.

While I was up at REEVES, I saw this guy that looks just like BUDDY RICE, he was gettin him a brand new 22 foot RANGER BASS BOAT. Buddy I didn't know you had a twin.lol

Kevin the book prevails again. Another woman takes care of her man. I would have never believed the control and power with which the book gives man. I was there and heard the foot, get put down! I was so amazed that I had to take a pic for proof. Only here will you see the true miracle and action of the book. I have not been one to get in on this fight or talk, as I have never felt that I had a dog in the hunt, now I see hope for me in the future. Everyone is sold out of the book right now, but I have a buddy that is going to let me have a copy.

Pic one show the hard work and dedication that a women will apply for her man. As you can see the drivers side always comes first. Look at the water flow.
Pic two show that even the windshield can't hide from this wet one.

Man I am proud to have a buddy that take control like this.

I have a prayer request I need to make...

A member of our bass club had a heart attack last night and unfortunately passed away. He was the type of person that would do anything to help out someone & will be missed by many!!

He leaves behind a wife, 2 grown sons & an 11 year old daughter. Please add the Aulds family to your prayers.

They gave a real nice service for Elaine. It was standing room only. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house when Robert their girls came out. They played some real nice songs that reflected on her life and her passing and they showed pictures of her and the family throughout the years. Today was the day she had planned on having her family all come over and get together at their new house.

Wanted to tell you a little about the love of my life.

She was my best friend, my lover, a wonderful mother, excelent cook, a teacher, the strongest person I know, determined.....I could go on for days.

She spoiled me rotten. She went back to collage in her thirties and went full time while raising three kids (and me!) still keeping up the house. In three years she only made two Bs and that was not acceptable to her. She would have started teaching full time this fall.

Most importantly she was a Christian and after my youngest daughter was Baptised she told my Dad, "I feel like a success as a mother now that I know that all my kids are going to Heaven." What better tribute to a mother than that?

I want to say thank you for all the prayers and thoughts over the last two weeks. The flowers were beautiful and she would have loved them.

Buddy, Roxie, Jim, David, thank you for coming to be with us. I know that all of you were thinking of us and that means the world to us.

One last thing: You could never find a better man and woman than Ersel and Christy. For thirteen days they have been beside us, crying along with us and loving on me and the girls. The girls asked them to come back with us to say goodbye to Momma. They are a part of our family and always will be. Thank you.

Do me a favor, stop right now and thank God for your family and friends, then go love on them and enjoy every moment.

Buddy & I took our grandson Shadow & his cousin Joseph fishing last night; running noodles. I'll let Buddy tell the story, but they had a blast. But, looking at things through a childs eyes.....One of those little clumps of hydrilla/water hyacinths came floating by. At first, Joseph wasn't real sure what it was, but as it got closer he realized what it was. He said..."It looks kinda like a little dragon". Shadow then said, "It looks like Shrek's ears!" So.....the rest of the night, & probably from now on, for us, it'll be "Shrek's ears"!!!

Well, I had one bright spot yesterday. I got to see my son drive his big truck! We were eating in Minden (guess where?) when he called & said he was right down the road. He had been trying to get in for Sherry's grandmother's service, but didn't make it. So we all ran out in the parking lot & watched "Big Orange" come rolling in! Then, we followed him back to the truck stop just past LA Downs. It was just really cool for me to see him driving that big ole thing. I've started calling him Orange Crush!! I'm looking for him a t-shirt with that on it!!

We ran noodles tonight for a while on Cypress. We threw them out just before dark & fished till about 11pm. We only caught 6 but pulled up 2 noodles with no line ?

We launched on the north end by the bridge & went up a little ways toward the main lake. Water depths mainly ranged from about 6-8ft deep. We baited with gizzards, crawlers, & chicken hearts. We caught on all 3.

Roxie, what is the river looking like now? Has the current slowed any?

Hello everyone, Paul,Matt, and I went late friday evening and early Sat. morning we set out couple of lines and ransome jugs. We had better luck on the jugs. Me and Tony fished HARD this weekend and ended up with 3/4 cooler by the end. That largest was a 43# Op. You know, when you spend that much time with someone you figure out things about them that they might not have wanted you to know. Tony has a deep fear of Bass. I'm not talking about the kind of fear like feeling rejected if he can't catch one. I'm talking about "Squeal like a little girl and nearly pee your pants" type fear when one touches him. It's kinda hard to put into words so I'm gonna allow him to come out of the closet on this one.

Now that's a true catfisherman. Anybody ever tried them as cut bait. Maybe they're good for something after all. I caught 20 undersize cats yesterday and then ate them last night with some friends. I went out with a friend and ran noodles this AM out of Teague and caught about 15 between 1 and 4 pounds. I'm exhausted.

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

I had a blast with my grandson and his cousin.Joseph went from clinging to the seat to no fear in about 45 minutes. He had never been out in a boat like that and he was a little scared in the beginning. Here are some of the pics from our night with noodles and our mourning bream fishing. The bream was very hard to find that trip out for some reason.

He was probably scared up until the time you took the second picture, when Shadow started driving the boat. Thats a nice mess-o-fish. I bet yall had a blast.

We did indeed have a ball. It was so neat to watch Joseph go from being scared & saying "Why's the boat rocking? Sit down! Don't lean over!" to a kid who, 45 minutes later would stand up in the front of the boat with binoculars, watching noodles, & hollering "There's a fish!" And to hear Shadow, the "older, more experienced fisherman", tell him all about watching the noodles, what shad look like, how to hold the fish when you unhook em, what it means when there's slime on the line....it was so cool! Both boys had a great time. Joseph even calls us Papaw Buddy & Mommydink, just like our own grandkids do.
I'll tell you this; if you've got a child that you want to get interested in fishing, you should take them to run noodles a time or two! They all seem to really enjoy it, & I know we sure do!

Jim, glad you had some luck this morning. Joe & Matt, sounds like y'all had fun, too. And Rob, thanks for the tip on Tony......and TONY!!! Come on, now, fess up!! Are ya skeered???? Of bass????
We went out of the new Red River South Marina this morning. It is soooo nice! The ramps are excellent, the little store is so nice & clean. And everyone is so friendly. There are really nice bathrooms over by the pavilion....no Porta-potty's! And the cabins are great. They're not ready yet, but the owner said that they should have them ready in a week or so. Everything was great, except we couldn't find any bream! Of course, we've never fished out of there before. We did ride out to the river, & saw that you come out really close to the Port. And the boat roads are very clearly marked. So if you haven't been out there yet, you should make a trip down there & check it out. I think you'll be very impressed.

Okay, let me start from at the top.

Joe, it was good to see you and Matt. Good mess of fish.

Roxie, love the Shrek ears story. The way kids and Eric see things so cool.

Buddy, those are some cool pics. I do want to bring up though that any person under the age of 14 or 16 I think has to have had a boater safety course to operate a motor boat even with and adult in the boat. I know I was told LC could not motor me around with out one a few years back. May want to check into it since the Coast Guard is patrolling the river now.

Okay, now for the rest of the story. Rob tried to break his arm Sunday evening would have succeeded if my gun box had not stopped him. Or maybe he was about to fall out of the boat and the gun box caught him, either way, he messed his elbow up.

Rob and I had stayed with the lines and rebated the hooks two times when we saw some folks close by fishing. Me being the people person I am, I strike up a conversation with them. Come to find out, we know a lot of same people and go to the same places, just never meet before Sunday night. Any way, as we were pulling away, I spotted two beaver making out near a set hook. Never knew they made out in the water till Sunday night. Any way, as I was say, Rob being the eater he is, he got hungry and wanted to go eat, so we motored over to the bank to tie out the bait basket. Well, I was squatted down at the front of the boat tying out the basket with my head light shinning in the mouth of it. My light had an area about 5’ covered with light, and all at once, I heard water rushing toward me, and then there out of the corner of my eye I could see it coming right at me, It was huge, it was long, it was a gator, no, and anaconda. It was like slow motion and time stood still, till what ever it was hit me right in the chest. I jumped up, walk backward to the front on the boat got on the front deck ready to jump in the river cause now it was in the boat with me. I almost pee my pants, I yell some words Rev would not want to hear me say, and jumped up and down. I put my light on it, and showed Rob what had just hit me in the chest. It was a 2 lbs BA$$. Oh My God, what an understanding friend Rob is, let me tell you. He laughed for over 10 mins at me, he even laughed again today, heck he laughed ever time he thought about it. He was rolling in the back of the boat. The gentlemen we had just meet, yell over that he was not laughing at me, I yell back and told him don’t worry, my Pardner is getting enough for the both of you. Never in my life have I felt that this was the end! Fallen pray to a wild animal, Sunday night I thought it was over for sure. You know that is so bad, spiders, snakes and gators don’t bother me, but a dang ba$$ jumps in the boat with me and I go nuts. Thanks for making sure I had to tell the story Rob, oh buddy, oh pal.

Oh ya, Rob, I set the cooker up this evening and cut up 2 lbs of fish and cooked. Sam, LC and I put away 2 lbs of fish for dinner. Oh, they were so good. I have them on ice tonight and will trim and freeze then tomorrow.

Oh, I almost forgot. Kevin, thanks for letting me use your new pad. That was nice. I enjoyed the dinner with you and your family. That was cool. I was sure proud of my wife also, she acted good. I think it was because you were there, and she knew you would keep her in line. We need need to do that again soon.

I'll go by Ron's office some time this week and get a price sheet from him for the new marina. He did tell me the cabins were $75.00 a night, the RV slots were $20.00 a night and the pavilion was free for tournaments and they would reserve it for us with enough notice.

My Dad and I went fishing out of Teague's this weekend and did pretty good. We were jugging and caught 20 keepers and 6 that we threw back. The only thing that they were biting on for us were chicken hearts (Thanks Buddy!!!!)

Well, I had a workers comp meetin today, she gave me a spellin test, any body want to guess how I did on it. Then a math test, and a readin test.

Then she tells me that her job is to contact people that I would like to work for, and try to get them to hire me, and that is the extent of her job. Then she asked if there was any job that I would just love to have, I think about it, then I say I would love to have my own Huntin, and Fishin show. I figure it couldn't hurt to ask. She laughed so hard she almost fell out of her chair.

After that was over she tells me I may need to look into gettin my dotor to take the plate out of my leg, not the one in my head, but the one in my leg. Reason bein, she says it would be better to have it done now, that way I don't have to pay for it. she said cause after the settlement, that I would have to pay for it. So I asked her how long a settlement takes, she said about 2 years from the time you get hurt. This September will be 2 years. Come on September.

Also yall say a prayer for me, I have to go see my Urologist tomorrow, I hope and pray every thing is fine.

You are right Tony but, some times I'll take a risk to put a smile on that boys face.Think about it ,Rob takes risk with you getting in the boat with him.I mean there is bass all up and down that river and he don't know how you are going to react when you see one..
