Everybody is hiding from the weather. I've noticed that posts on all the forums I use have declined. With the thermometer reading 3 degrees this morning, I'm hiding too.
Was -10.8 this morning when I got up,now its a balmy -5.

We also have a lot of hunters on this board. That's my excuse, at least. Too busy going to the deer camp every available moment.

How ya been Kutter. Did you guys kill any big ones this year? We killed 12 deer in Missouri and none in Illlinois. I saw lots of 120-130 class bucks this year, but just wasnt what I was looking for so I passed them all and ate my buck tags. That made the wife happy for sure not having me mount another varmint this year. Not much longer well be into the spring fishing season. Look me up when we get some warm weather.

I think they are calling for it to warm up to the fiftys.
Hope to get out there next week.
Those blues are all stacked up just waiting. :0a18:

Is the lake iced over down there spoon. or can you get a boat on it

Went over to the Foley access on the Mississippi Sat. to check water. You had to break ice for a couple of hundred feet to get to open water. Someone had actually done it. I decided to take a pass. The flows were making quite a racket beating up the Nav. bouys.
It was iced up at Windsor Crossing last weekend, but I doubt the main lake is frozen up - put in at Shawnee Bend and you shouldn't have any problems.
Surface temp today is 39F so if the cold keeps up, I don't think it'll be long before the whole thing is frozen solid.
This cold weather pretty much shattered the illusion of being an all-year-around fisherman for me... We might try up at Montrose in January but otherwise I doubt I'll get out on Truman at all before spring unless it really warms up...

Robert, both lakes are open.
Some of the back water coves may have some ice.
No problem getting a boat in at the main ramps.

I have just been working. Trying to get alittle money to get my truck in better looking shape and make sure it is in good working order. Of course I would be lieing if I told ya that I didn't go out every once in awhile and look around my new area for some bait ponds and try to find some new access to the MO. I figure I will be a bank fisherman for about another 3 to 5 years. Got to many projects around the house and got to get some money to build a area to store a boat. (And If I am lucky I can convert the natural spring behind my house into a bait pond). But other then that I just hope that my schedule would be better for Friday night fishing.

Drove down to Blanchette Landing Monday. It will take a good 4-5' rise just to get the ramp usable!

Hey, just wanted to check in. We got moved into our new house and I didn't realize until after we were here that nobody offered high speed. I'd forgotten how sloooooooow dial-up was till about a month ago. Anyway, been doin' some fishin' on the MO but not much catching. Haven't been anti-social, just anti-waiting-for-days-for-a-page-to-load on a slow connection. Hope everyone's holidays were good.
Hey stolib...
If you really need high-speed, check into the various satellite providers. There's one called "Wild Blue" that a friend of mine uses and is satisfied with. I think the satellite TV providers offer it too (Dish for sure, maybe Directv too). Installation is a bit expensive but it may be worth it.
I'm certain I'll never move unless I've verified they have DSL or wireless available ahead of time! Had to use dial up at the in-laws over Christmas - so as if it wasn't bad enough just being there, I also had to wait forever for a page to load...

Spoon, Robert and I drove all over Truman lake today looking for you. Ok, actually looking for fish, but no luck on either one :). Still a good day on the water and it was worth the chilly morning to be on Truman all by our lonesomes. This is only the second time I've been there and it was wierd because last time was a typical day and today I think Robert and I saw 2 other boats. Kind of like having a private lake...
Mr. T, I did it the easy way and married a girl from CA. Just can't afford plane tickets for us and the kids to go and visit the inlaws. Being the loving husband and father I am, I sacrifice my plane ticket so the wife and kids can go.........

Went to the bend ramp around 3 to see if you guys were there. Didn't fish today but talked to a guy that hammered the hybrids. Did ya guys do any good on the cats? Plan on trying some crappie tomorrow...

Good going! I bet you get brownie points all around for such a sacrifice...
Unfortunately, my in-laws are in St. Louis. So not only am I guaranteed to have a *wonderful* time when I get there, I also get the joy of a 4 hour drive across I-70 each way.
Guess I'm a little slow on the uptake, but it didn't occur to me until this year (after 14 years of marriage) that if we just lived another 2 or 3 hours farther from St. Louis, I'd have a much better excuse for not going...

It sure is good to get on here and see all my Missouri brothern still out there.. Sure missed being here the past several weeks.. Wolfman, when you say look for a hole for channels..will they fill holes behind dikes? Going out on the Missouri this weekend..river is really, really low..any ideas where to set up? going to St.Clair to get a couple jars of frozen shad and some gold fish..I have two bags of shrimp in the icebox in the shed but I forgot and unpluged it two weeks ago..How does the smell get through those plastic bags??? If any of you guys are having luck on the Missouri..where are you hitting them??

Sorry, Dave. I've been out a few times on the river the last month or so over by Lexington, but haven't had any luck. Fished shallow sand bars, 40' holes, outside bends, and just a few light nibbles. Hope you have better luck!

Sounds like a plan. Got some friends coming over for dinner in the evening, but nothing going on during the day. Sounds like a good day to go fishin'!! Got an idea for a pretty cool way to slow down a boat for drifting the river I want to run by you, anyway. It's kind of goofy, but it makes sense to me.

There was an article in the KC Star on Thursday about a local catching the blues like they are going out of style on shad sides. According to the article most of them are being caught at the deep ends of wing dykes. I'm not sure how far Lexington is from KC but I need to go fishing with you guys one of these days. I've only fished with one other BOC member and would really like to get out with some more. Any time spent on the river is time well spent. 3 beers and 12 hours on the water is the best time a guy could ask for. Just enough beer to enjoy the taste and not get the least bit buzzed, but still enough time for the woman to wake up and go back to sleep before I ever make it home.

Hope you guys had better luck than I did.. Several areas where the fish seemed stacked but just nibbles..changed hooks and still not really good bites. I was using worms and shad guts..could not locate a live shad anywhere.. still, it was one of the best days I have had in over a month to be back on the water again...
