ok, so i am on the kamode doing my thing when i hear something hit the roof....BONK...then you hear something slide. then i hear BONK again followed by a small sqeal.
i think it is just a limb that fell on the metal roof...ok i can finish. so i do. i go outside to smoke a well deserved smoke and i hear a much louder squeal....so i figure a baby rabbit got eat by an owl or the hawk that likes to terrorize the wildlife. then i think...OH baby bird...and i start looking. i see something dangling off the side of the trailor...right on the edge of the roof....looks like the biggest lizard i ever seen....till i see fur. a baby squirell hanging on for dear life. then i see something on the ground...another baby squirell.....so we get them inside and the one is having little siezures.....and had a bad bloody nose...that is the one that was on the ground....i think that was the loud first BONK i heard. the other jumps on david and surprises him. he seems ok. so i give them a little canned milk with sugar mix i use for puppies and the bloody one takes it but the other one just gets mad. the little bloody one is in love with david and only wanted him to hold it. finally get it in the plastic tub with the other and they nestle in the sheet for the night....so off to the pet store tomorrow for a kitten nurser....they have teeth buds and i would think in about 2 weeks they are big enough to go out on their own....we will take it one step at a time...isaac named them Mighty (the one that hung on the roof) and Mac (it hit like a mac truck)....actually i think their names are from some cartoon. wish them luck!@

Awwww, how sweet! I've had baby rabbits like that, but no baby squirrels. When I was about Isaac's age, a neighbor lady used to let them in her screened porch, thru the trees jutting in the porch.
Best of luck with them, Amanda, David and Isaac!
Hug each other,
Cheryl

We have a good group and we have fun doing the things we do rather it be jugging, trot lining, or fishing with rod and reel.Look forward to our tournament..
Well, I don't know about all that, Ty tends to get on my feelings some times with all that 24 hr rod and reeling he dose. Let one Texan come over here and rod and reel and he wipes out the catfishing pop. ever where he's been. Yep, can't fish behind Ty.

Oh, so I guess I broke the law with the one I keep for three week after the the storm a month ago? Oh well, we keep a baby tree rat for about three weeks. I let him go at my Mom's house. She is feeding him and his buddies now. He made friends quick. I just hope Mom dose not get a hunger for mullagan. :ooooh:

i've ben on the old site reviewing all our roots. The really old history was destroyed back around May 2005 but it is cool to read how the rednecks got started with the first gathering and all. There is fishing history there because we used to discuss "fishing" on this thread.
I'm going to start a log book and try and keep up with the important stuff in it. It is a shame the old data has been deleted but I suppose there are a few years ahead of us to gather more.

well, i was told in an email a while ago by a rehaber that i could have kept it with intent to release. who knows. i just dont have the set up and they were not on hard solids yet...several rehabers refused to take them because they dont have space or time. maybe next time i will just keep them.

You’re asking me for help. I got skunked last tourney. Carmen put it on me in a bad way. I did not even have a fish to weight and she had that big ole pile of them. You might want to see if you can find some good fishing tips out from Carmen or Roxie. They seem to know how to win tourneys.

I hope a bunch of you get to go fishing this weekend. I'm not positive but I think the catfishing might be slap on fire. I went for a little while after work and came home with 6 nice filet sized blues, had one lunker break the line and released one about 8 pounds. I released a channel cat that was right in the slot I was fishing for because Eric says they taste bad and I was running out of room in my ice chest. Eric, I caught 2 nice goos. I'm running about 20 noodles south of Teague starting at around 9 tomorrow morning. If any of yall see me stop by and give me a shout. My noodles are light blue.

I wanted to drop a line and shout out for a local business that went over and beyond. Me and Ersel went to Coushada (sp?) to look at something that Ersel will definatly tell you about. We got to Stevens Tractor about 25 minutes after closing and "MOM" opened shop and helped me for about 45 minutes finding parts for my 1953 Ford Jubilee and turned me into a customer for life.
If you need anything for Tractors give them a call. Definatly worth the drive if they have it. I saved about 100 bucks total. (sounds like a woman doesn't it?)

Sounds like we came home about the time the fishing is gonna get good. I like fishing in the gulf, as you don't never know what you're gonna reel in, but dang, those folks are happy when they fish all day and get three or four fish. Time to check the hooks on the noodles, and get'em ready.

I went and ran noodles with a friend for about 6 hours. I lost count but I've got one and a half ice chests full of cats. They were almost all between 2 and 4 pounds. All blues except 2 channel cats. It was great until about noon then the pleasure boaters and jet skis cranked up. We caught them in the shallows, in the deep spots, against the rocks, didn't seem to matter where we dropped them.

You did alot better than I did. Went this morning about 9:30 and chunked cast net till 10:30. When I caught my first one I would have gave sombody a high five but I was the only one there. So I chuncked some more and ended up with enough to fish with. But I fished deep and shallow and just caught a few and no size to them. Alsey how deep were you fishing your jugs?

Cheryl, only you could have something like newborn kittens come up at the last minute!
Rob....ahhhh, the shad chef. (Maybe we shouldn't try anything Rob cooks, unless we watch it "start to finish"!)
Robert, I think we've been to that tractor place; you're right, they're really good people. Yep, glad to hear there are still business folks like that around!
We took our grandkiddos to the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler today. We had a blast! They were so good! We were there about 2 1/2 hrs, and the weather was beautiful. If any of you have never been, you should go! My favorite was the baby giraffe....so cute! Their reptile exhibit & the penguins are great, too. And Eric, they've got some of those "adorable" little otters, too.
Breanna's favorite part??? Playing in an old Ford pickup turned into a kids play area/sandbox!!! Figures....! I'll let Buddy post some of the pictures. Of course, I made wwaaaayy too many, I'm sure! Oh, and David, I looked & looked, but I never did find Isaac!!
My son has finally made it home from his longest truck trip so far...about 5wks! That boy has been ready to get home! It's his & Sherry's 9th anniversary, so they're spending some time together for a night or two! He said he hopes he doesn't make a run that long again for awhile. He's been to Washington State, California, then Utah, & back down to Texas.....getting Lots of driving time!!

We spent the day catering to the kids and grandkids. We brought back some hermit crabs for the kiddos, so we had to build a place to keep them. Then we had to shell and de-vein 5 lbs of shrimp. I fried them up along with seasoned fries. I must say, they came out delicious. We bought "panko" out at Aransas Pass, and it is so great to bread shrimp with. I look forward to catfish fillets breaded with it. BTW, I'll have to get over on the tournament thread and see what is going on. I've been online very little the last month, and haven't kept up with things. I'll have to talk to the missus about getting over that way.
Jim, sounds like you're catchin' lots of fish. Sure makes me want to hit the river.

You guys, I am going AWOL for a while. I know you have prolly seen on the news or in the paper the story about Ethan Powell who at 8 weeks old was diagnosed with leukemia and was given a 15% chance to live. Well, it has dropped to less than 3%. I am a PR volunteer for the cause of getting Oprah to run a story and getting donor drives set up.
If you can go to the general conversation area you will see the post i made. Please help me. I need people who can print the letter to Oprah and sign it, and also make copies to take to work and ahve them signed.
I actually have a contact for the Oprah show locally and will hear this week hopefully. they seemed very intrested to get them on ASAP.
So I may not post much on here at all. May pop in every once in a while.
if you go to www.ethanpowell.com (http://www.ethanpowell.com) you can see ethan and his family and read the daily updates from his dad.

We took the little boat out yesterday and got a big suprise when we saw how high the river was now. Our bream spots were all hidden so we only caught 10, our bream basket is WAY under water so they are out of reach and so are the two lines I have out already. I might could have reached them with a pole but didn't bring it. I'll have to come up with a different plan for this weekend; maybe noodles and poco blood pumpers.

Boy, that river is a mess. It's up about 4 or 5 feet here in town. That means it'll be up 4 or 5 inches down at Clark's. My entire strategy for the tournament has gone out the window. I'm just going to have to freestyle it. At least I'll have a good excuse if I come in last. With regard to the logs, I'm hoping the river will crest and start to go down before Friday and take some of the logs out of the river.

Looks like you all have a gathering or tourney this weekend...PLEASE be careful on the river. I hear too many stories of people tearing up there boats or worse when the river is up like it is now!
Good luck everyone!

Ersel, since you have such a big problem, I think that it would take several of us to clear it up for you over a period of several nights!

Hello everybody. I have been busy getting ready to pour concrete at the house. We finaly poured it Monday. I would like to recommend Cartcrete to anybody that may be doing some concrete work in the future. These guys do a jam up job. I had the forms already up and everything on grade. They started pouring at 11AM and finished at 7PM. The owner of the company was in the forms pulling mud! They would have finished alot sooner but they had to pack 15 yards of crete to the back with wheelbarrows(and he didn't charge me any extra!!) and poured the rest out of the truck. The owner is a real pro. He stayed with the crete until 9:15PM to finish brooming it off. I can't say enough about this crew, you don't find many today that will go above and beyond to make the customer happy.

Don't do like Buddy did Kevin. He built his house and then started thinking towards a slab. I can still hear Roxie cursing that floor jack.
Yall, that little stretch of water at the new marina is looking pretty sweet. I've never been down there before today. Anyone with a few minutes to spare on their way to Clarks ought to swing through there and check it out. A fellow told me it was called Cooley's Lake (it's an oxbow). He said the entrance to it from the river is between two rock jetties. Sounds like a good place for a trotline. That's probably where I'm going to fish the tourney.

Well, I don't know about all that, Ty tends to get on my feelings some times with all that 24 hr rod and reeling he dose. Let one Texan come over here and rod and reel and he wipes out the catfishing pop. ever where he's been. Yep, can't fish behind Ty. FEELINGS....NOTHING MORE THAN FEELINGS....AINT THAT A SONG OR SOMETHHANG????

We went over the JD Bridge yesterday, & I couldn't believe how red & muddy the Ole Mighty Red is right now! And the current! And the logs! Yep, guys, we're gonna need to be real careful. I hope we can find some fish....I haven't seen it this muddy in awhile. Oh well, we'll have a blast even if the fish don't bite!!

you and the other 10 doz people who will be doing it. That new landing has done nothing but mess up my little neck of the woods. I have fished in that area from the first year they locked the dam. No one else would run that far to fish. I would, did, and still do.

Welcome aboard Beverly! Are you gonna fish in the tournament? You kinda did it backwards but you meet the qualifications of being a member and attending a gathering in the past 6 months.

For anybody who hasn't heard, here's the highlights:
Eric won.
Carmen came in a distant second.
The kids all did great.
We learned something new about Buddy.
We witnessed something involving Ty, Tony, and a big pink deer head. I still don't know what it signified but I got a picture of it.
The food was great.
There were lots of pictures taken. Here's three of the best ones I took.
