Tony, how is the fishing on the other side of the Dillon Dam? Ive been wanting to try that area where you have to walk down from that parking lot above.
Ryang, I was at Dillon about a week ago and it was crowded on top the dam. I watched two boys that walked over the dam, went down a trail to the rocks and used slipfloats fishing close to the bank. Don't know what they were using for bait but they were dragging in channels one after another. John

Thanks Abu I was wondering if I tried that area with some Live Gill or cut Gill or shad or something. I like the area but on the Dam its too crowded and at the very end of the spillway there are just way to many snags.

hey ryan........were u talking about by the sportman area? the long steep boat ramp?? ive never personally fished there but it seems prime.......i think that is close to where the licking comes into the resovoir.......last time out there we ramped by the marina and tried to motor over there and hit a very shallow spot and turned around........it was actually our first time out on dillon on a boat and we didnt have much luck, but i did catch about a 5# channel on a live gill.............i think we would have been better off fishing my spot on the spillway........some of u have probally seen me walk up and around and i go down on the rocks on the other side almost all the way back to the far wall........its a hell of a walk but ive had great luck down there...

RamRod, Ive been to the spillway a couple of times but only gotten some real good bites then hung up into a snag. I was not fishing directly in the spillway tho thats where alot of the bigguns are caught. I would like to fish the other side of the spillway to see how that is dont need a boat to get there just park at the top of the spillway and walk its not too far. Looks like some prime fishing tho.

ive had great luck on the end of the farside high wall down on the rocks.....the only time ive spent down at the spillway as been earlier this summer though and i dont know if the rock i usually fish off is under water normally.....................does anyone know if dillon spillways water level is higher then it was earlier this summer or do they keep it pretty much the same with the damn regulating the water levels?? i would hate to drive down there and find my rock submerged in water, its about the flattest rock down there and the most comfortable to sit on....

Me and Tony(Tspergin) slayed em Wed. night and I caught my first Blue Channel - weighed 9lbs 2 oz. We ended up catching 15 total and Tony caught a 10+ lb blue! :D
Thur. night me and Brian(Doughboy) tried our luck and only caught 3 channels. We must've been nuts fishing out there and freezing our $%^ off!

I caught an 8.3 cat Channel out of the lake and it has a deep blue color. Maybe it was just a large channel.

They were definitely blues because their tails didn't fork like channel cats do. Will try to get a picture up later.

I fished there for years and never caught a blue cat out of Dillion, only large channels with a blueish color. But if you did, congrats.

That link also says that blue cats are only in the Ohio River and that aint true.

It means the ohio river and most of it's tributaries. They're also in Those lakes on which you pay, but that is only because the are stocked from other states fish.

Had a great trime Friday night out here at Dillon with Tony Spergin and my son. We had a great time and caught about 35 fish. We threw back about a dozen small channels and bullheads but I have pictures here of the 23 we kept! :D

We use cut shad about 3" long. Catch them at the lake with a casting net and drift the upper end. Using a drop looper rig. (Walking sinker on the bottom and a loop about 1 1/2' up the line w/5/0 circle hook).
RamRod

We did use cut shad but rigged our lines a bit shorter than what Desperado does. We rigged em about 6-8" from the bottom sinker so the bait is closer to the bottom, seemed to work for us.
By the way Desperado, the fish were still on ice and I cleaned em after you left. Got quite a bit of fish fillets.
Also my son Michael caught three of those cats, boy was he pumped.
