Me and Jim spent the day on the river yesterday. Ended up bringin' home 52 cats. Probably threw 30 or so back. Good day of fishin'. Really enjoyed spending the day with Jim. The fish where in 20 to 26 feet of water. Most of them came off nightcrawlers, with some of the bigger fish caught on cut shad. We didn't have any luck finding shad. Jim caught us some the day before down by Centrytel.

Jim is tryin' his best to be the head gooboy. First off, last year he won the big goo award in our tourney. Then yesterday, he done it again. Only goo of the day. He wouldn't even let me reel him in. He tried to get me to take his picture with it, but I was to jealous. He quit fishing for at least 10 minutes so he could admire his catch. That boy has got it bad!!

Got to see a couple bald eagles yesterday. And a big mink running down the rockwall just above my camp. That's another cool thing about being on the river. You just never know what your going to see.

Really enjoyed it Jim. Looking forward to another one!!!

I know Roxie, Debbie(Ty’s wife) and Carmen were on the list, but I just can’t remember, wasn’t Mary(Rob’s wife) on there also? Please re PM me your hug list so I get it right. Thanks Tony:boss:

Hey Dick, call me, I loss another trap. This time with something real big in it. To give you and idea, I found my stake 8' up a pine tree. The limbs were broken out of the top of the tree and there were rather large claw marks up all the way to that point. He was a nice one. Same set I took the huge female in.

Also JB called yesterday and told me there were some things going on up there through March, so there will be no need in us coming back this season. It works out just right. I removed everything from there today. There are some people doing some looking around up there. He said it would just be best for us and our equipment to just not be there. I am moving to CV tomorrow. I will set all day. I finially broke down and got sick tho. My head is stopped up some kind of bad. My ears are ringing. I want to get this last week in and see what I can take there. I hope to pull 2 more cats and a doz fox out before we sale. Call when you can.

Tony if you feel that bad you ought to take it easy. I've been at Willis Knighton hospital with Melanie since Wednesday. She went to work last weekend with a cough and a fever so she wouldn't have to make up a weekend day. Two days later I took her to the doctor and he put her in the hospital with pneumonia in one lung and bronchitis in the other.

Oh yeah, Cheryl told me Rupert, Bud, and BadBob were the names you missed on the Hug list. She told me to tell you.
I'm going fishing in the morning. It'll beat being cooped up in a hospital even if they're not biting.

One last thing, what additives would yall recommend running in a fresh tank of gas after I've had fuel in my carb for nearly 3 months?

Rough winds here at home. I think we had sustained winds of 20-25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. It must've been one of those gusts that took down the pecan tree in our back yard. It landed on our wood shed and the cyclone fence, fortunately with minimal damage. I'm just real proud that my pups weren't too close and stayed safe.
My Aunt Cilla, and Shane came over and helped me clean up the mess, and what a mess.....I didn't think to take a photo before we began clearing the debris, but I did begin thinking about pictures in relation to home owners insurance when I saw the fence and roof of the shed. So here's a few scenes...

I put out 2 doz fox set today and about 3 cat set. I did not see any sign, but I set them anyway. The land owner had seen a pile of gray fox during deer season, and he wants the gone. I used nothing but the lure I made also. I have taken 2 cats on it so far. It smell some kind of good. I promise any of yall that have ever spent much time on the river in the spring and summer will say "Hey I have smelled that some where before."

I can't sleep for some reason, so I got up and came in here to see if anyone else was up. I think I am going to the Doc Monday if I can get a appt. My sinuses are hurting real bad, and I keep get nose bleeds from it. I was 3 hours late to work Friday due to my inter ear making me sick. I can breathe find, I just have bad head aches and sinus problems and the inter ear going out.

I know what you're dealing with there. My sinuses were terrible. I was using a couple nasal sprays and two other prescriptions for the sinus trouble. That's the main reason we're down on the coast. Within one week after arriving here, I was able to quit the medicine. Not sure what was giving me the trouble in East TX, but I dread going back. Only thing is, we will only be there a short time, then on somewhere else. LA coast, TX coast, Colorado, Arizona; who knows. (I shore do like dem crawdads tho.) Hope you get straightened out there Tony.

I was diagnosed with COPD in November. The specialist I was using also treated the sinus problems. I talked with her about the change in climate. She told me some folks do great in humid coastal areas, some in dry climates. I'm not too sure how I will do in the humidity come summer. That is why I keep the option of the high country. If necessary I will move permanently. Oh and BTW, I never smoked. Hate to think of how I might be if I would have.

Quick update on my truckin' son.....He's been in Wisconsin; made his first drop off on his own. Then hauled back down to Ohio. He called this a.m; was hoping he was headed South....Wrong! Got another load to Wisconsin!! One thing about it; he's sure learning how to drive on snow & ice!
Buddy started adding a little cover to the side of his shed today; he's got a new grill picked out, so he's gonna make a cover, & put down a concrete block pad to put his grill, smoker & maybe the fish cooker on. I think it's gonna be real nice. That way, HE can continue to cook, even if it rains!!:tounge_out:

Thanks to everyone. I am fixing to head to bed. I just got in from the fur shed. All the fur on boards and will be ready to sale by Sunday evening. I planned to get started this evening in the fur shed at about 4pm. Wrong, the phone rang and I knew the #. It was work. I had to run to Junction City Ar on and er locate for AP&L. They were having to dig up a burried main line on Iron Mt Rd, better know as Senic 7. Any way, I got back around 8:30 and did not even come inside to let the wife know I was home. I headed straigt to the shed and went to work. I still have out 2 doz fox set, but I don't have much faith, as I did not see any sign the other day. I am just trying to locate them right now.

It has been a fun season, and I learned a lot. This is one sport you never quite learning at. Or not me anyway. I was taught by my dad that you quite learning the day you die, and not until then.

Oh, and congrats on the promotion Bulldaddy. You earned it.

Man it sure was a nice weekend. I ran a 3 mile race on Bistineau's trails Saturday. Came in first in the Masters catagory (40-49 y/o catagory) and second overall. I took the family to the parade Saturday and then we went back over to King's Hwy Sunday morning to pick up some more "throws". Some other folks got there earlier and had most of it but we ended up with a better deal. I picked up all the split oak firewood that folks had left laying around. Sunday afternoon I started melting some lead and got about 20 ingots poured before the kids wanted to hit the hot tub. Me and Logan are taking the pirogue out this morning and try to catch our lunch and cook it over an open fire.

Becca, I used to fish the Missouri river when I was living in Great Falls MT. Believe it or not, we used to trap crawfish up there too. We kept them in a stock tank until we had enough for a crawfish boil.

I have several nose bleeds this time of year due to the fact that my sinuses stay so dried out from the heat in the house and in the Banks.I have learned to just live with it.Tony, you probably have an infection in your sinuses and need to get on some kind of antibiotics. Hope you get to feeling better. But I can tell you, it is probably going to take a fishing trip or two before you start feeling better..

We always kept a kettle of water on the insert in the fireplace at home. Down here, we keep those damp rid bags (3) in the RV to lower the humidity. BTW, those things are great. I am going to have the son put one in our gun cabinet at home. If you've never seen them, Home Depot carries them in boxes of three for less than ten bucks. Ideal for anywhere you need to keep the air dry.

Will,

Up here you can buy the Damp Rid in a plastic container for a dollar at the dollar stores. You might want to check those out, as they are cheaper than the ones at Home Depot.

Take care.

Tony, I've been having problems with my sinus as well. My wife talked me into going see a Dr. Rheddy on Shed Rd in Bossier City. He's an allergy specialist but will treat infections like yours as well. He's the first doctor in a long time that will actually take the time to talk to you and listen to you. I highly recommend him. As for the hugs, I was just getting jealous. I think that we all knew it was in fun!

Roxie, Buddy might want to rethink the shed over the cooker. Just remember my "learning experience" last Father's day!:embarassed:

Well as bad as I feel, I still had to run the line this morning. I had three gray fox and two misses. One of the misses was a gray that I took some 20 yards down the road tho. He just could not get enough of that lure I made. All I need now it 4 more to make my goal for the year. I have 5-6 days to do it.

Yall should have seen Isaac today, He lost 4 bass, but his eyes get huge every time he set the hook, then I let him reel some of the fish I stuck in, made my heart swell up with pride, it was more fun to watch him play a fish, then any thing, and just to spend time with my little boy. Then he got to where he was netin my fish. It was the best day I've had in a long time. What made it so good was when we were on the way back home, he looks over at me, and said daddy when can we go back fishin, and I love you. Gave me a big ole lump in my throat.

Whew! I rowed that dang pirogue for 7 hours. Not a bite on the hook but we did get three birds. Logan and Jacob took care of those.

I melted more lead today and have accumulated around 60 ingots.

Tony, You've got to take a break and recoop dude. You are going to drive yourself in the ground.

Eric, those boot are made for walkin' and walkin's what they'll do. If you don't buy Carmen those boots, they're gonna walk all over you.

Carmen,

The woodpecker today.

The Black-capped chickadee today.

The sparrow with a yellow spot.

As I've never been able to remember the correct name of the woodpecker by calling it red headed woodpecker, I looked it up online and it's called the red bellied woodpecker?????????? Does that make any sense to anyone?

Take care.

I sent a fellow in ID 3 army diggers. The pics are of what he dose with them. He makes the models out of the real bones. These are pics he sent me to show what he will be doing with the diggers/dillos. The 4 legged is a wolf. He did not say what the 2 legged one was. He spends lots of time and effort on them doesn’t he.

Tony, cool looking pictures of those little skeleton critters. I wondered what that guy was gonna do with a dillo! And those 3 foxes are beautiful. But I agree with Rob; you'd better start taking some time to heal up. You don't want to get sick just when the fishing gets good!!:tounge_out:
Cheryl, those are pretty little birdies! I think I've got a female goldfinch, or a male that's not "colored up" yet, hanging around my feeders. I've also got chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, titmouse, doves & lots of sparrows!! I just love watching them!
Rob, sounds like you've been busy too. Get Buddy to tell you his pirogue story sometime!(It has to do with a shotgun, pirogue, & the toe of his boot!) Also, I missed something; what is all the lead melting for? And ingots?

My neighbor (whom tried to hire me last year and I almost retired from the AF for the job) recently shut down the plant he was managing. He brought home some lead that was used to stamp letters in book binders. I needed to melt it and clean it up for future use. I just pour it in a cast iron muffin pan for easy storage. I've got to find a mold that will give me what I can use (1-8 oz) and make up a few sinkers.

Well me And Isaac went back today, went to Clarks, and had a blast. isaac saw a big flock of coots run across the water, and he asked me if they were sick cause they could not fly. Then he helped me catch some more bass, spill my tackle box, drop my pliers in the water(glad I have anoter set) in the water.

A little advice to any body takin a 5 year old fishin. A boat, a 5 year old, 2 cokes, and 4 packs of pecan rolls, do not make a good mix. He was non stop, but he did fish most of the time we were out. On the way back home he prayed and thanked God for letin us catch those fish. Isaac is one COOL kid.I just wish that he looked like me.lol

I asked my 9 yo red headed daughter yesterday if she want to grade fur for me tonight. She was waiting on me to get home this evening. I carried her to the fur shed and showed her how I wanted them graded and gave her the rule. She came out a little while later and said "Done with those, can I get the top rack down?" WOW! I told her sure, keep on going. She came out a little while later and said "Done, can I take some off the boards?" I told her those need to hang a while longer. She told me "okay, I have to go wash my hair now." LOL She jumped her bike a few times over the ramp my older son made her, then went in. I forgot to tell yall, my 6 yo helped her a little to. He was so funny about it. I could hear them in there talking about where what fur should go. Any way I let them clear out, and I went in to check the job they had done. There was piles of fur all over the floor. When I got to check the piles out, she had made a pile for 27",28",29", all the way through 35". She did not miss a one either. I counted them and she had graded 140+ coons this evening. I am so proud of her. She loves doing things like for and with me. I just wanted to share this with yall.

Amanda,

Have David take some pics with Isaac and him out together, that way you can enjoy it, too. Those moments frozen in time, never to occur again, ever.

You working hard, woman? Slow down and smell life a little, take a PD off, go with them.

Take care.
