View Full Version : Found a BIG 17 point
I found this 17 point a few years back. I was rabbit hunting on public land and saw some white fur through the brush. I walked around the thick brush and found the whole skeleton of this deer. Imagine my suprise!! I broke the head off and did the mount myself. I had to boil a small bit of hair and scalp off between the two antlers, other than that, there was no hair or skin left on the whole deer. I remember the date too...January 14th. I remember it because it was the day before the last day of bow season in Missouri. It scored 170 3/8 if I remember correctly!!
Enjoy!

Hope it was a natural death versus a lost kill... would be a great shame...
Great find and neat mount!

Congrats on the awesome find!:0a32:
I think it may have been a natural death. There is a road about 50 yards from where I found him. No arrows, broken bones etc. There is a Missouri Department of Conservation office on the property and when I took it there to show them, they said no one came there to ask for help finding it and they haven't heard of anyone losing one in the area. At the time, there were only managed hunts on the property too. I am just glad no one else found him before me. He was there for quite awhile!

Excellent find!! I have found a few nice skulls. None that big though. I'm suprised mice didn't chew on it. All the sheds and skulls I find are always chewed up pretty good.

WOW, thats an awesome find. I do hope that it was a natural death. If so, thats one monster that lived a great life and manage to keep hunters at bay.
