The 30/06 just turned 100 years old check this site out.

I'm pretty sure they will still be one of the best calibers when they have the two hundred year anniversary. I love mine and I wouldn't sell it for any gun.

Just a little bit of trivia. The 30/06 gets its name because it is a 30 cal. bullet and the cartridge was developed in 1906 thats where the 06 comes from.

Most of the 03 Springfields were chambered in in 30-06 after the military adopted the round.

The 03 Springfield, the BAR and the M1 Garand were all chambered for the 30-06 round. The 03 was used in WW1 and the BAR and Garand were used in
WW2 and the korean war. This one round has probably killed more big game and people than any other in history.
