Well I just found out Whistler just got the first deer of the year for the Big Buck contest.
It scored a whopping 160 and he is now in the lead, leaving everyone else behind. We are waiting for the final score that was photgraphed for it to stand in our own BOC record books.
Whistler great job brother.

Ah, Bryan. You need a bit more practice on field dressing. The idea is to just cut out the guts. I'll bet Joanne will STILL be able to make a great stew out of it, even though you got a bit carried away on the gutting.

Get that with your muzzleloder Bryan? Much tracking after the shot, I've heard they can pull the plug on themselves and become almost invisible.
Fine trophy........I'd mount it on a christmas tree if it was me

You guys are really funny!! Kutter, you mean I wasn't supposed to bone it out yet? LOL I didn't know it would glow like that with no meat on it's bones!! LOL I swear I wasn't hunting at the nuke plant in east Tennessee!! LOL
Egg, I shot one just for you last year. LOL My neighbor wanted a small deer and we were hunting on his farm. LOL So I got him one. Smallest deer I've ever shot. It probably didn't weigh more than 50 lbs on the hoof. LOL Small young doe. LOL I thought of you when I was field dressing it too. LOL Tell my truck and my wife's car their defenseless!! LOL
THAT is funny, Even Ann would think this was funny.( weakest Link) :D :D

Hmmmm....that wasn't very nice there top!! LOL I was asked if I had gotten that deer butchered yet. Yep, I did. Sure is a stringy and wiry old deer. Tastes kind bad too. Kind of like copper and cheap old iron mixed. LOL Terribly bad wild flavor it has. LOL

Here is my real first deer of the season. LOL Small antlers on a decent size buck. Antlers looked deformed or something. I didn't even know it was a buck til I got to after the shot. Thought I was shooting at a nice doe in fact. LOL I got to my treestand a bit later than I usually do. It was already pretty light. Of course I was rushing some, climbed the tree in no great hurry, didn't want to break into a sweat. Got up where I wanted to be and pulled my muzzleloader up. Got the muzzleloader up and started tying it off the the arm of my treestand.(I always tie about 10 foot of rope from my weapon to the stand, so if I happen to drop it it will drop barrel down and stop short of the ground. Hopefully anyway!) Anyway, before I got finished tying the rope, I heard some rustling in the leaves. Looked up and this deer was standing about 30 yards away. Almost like he had watched me climb the tree and wait til I was ready. LOL I wasn't in the treestand 5 minutes yesterday. Yesterday's temps at about 6 AM were in the mid-60's and the wind was at about 15 MPH. Stayed windy all day yesterday. I hate wind. LOL At least that much. My first muzzleloading deer in 2 or 3 years.

Thanks Guys, that deer wasn't as small as it looks in the picture. It weighed in at 110 lbs dressed. For here it's an average deer, but had some deformed antlers for some reason. I thought it was a nice doe when I pulled the trigger. Either way it was better than the one DH said I got first!!! LOL
