Couple of questions from a newbie...

Hello Everyone....I was on the upper salt overnight (Ead's Wash) and started wondering if the local catfish population ever migrates down to the lake? There were several points right around Ead's Wash that didn't really seem deep enough for a big catfish to make it though (atleast not without getting beat up on the rocks). ALso, does the water level that far up ever change significantly (like in the winter) or does it always flow at that rate?

As for a fishing report, we got skunked but we did have some excitement....at one point the first pole (and a chair) were yanked into the water as we were setting up the other poles. Both the pole & chair were recovered but no fish...

I would think that most of the migrating up & down river would happen during the monsoons when the water level goes up.

Ive fished Eads before & it looks like a promising spot. Although I didnt catch anything there, a guy we were fishing with had a short run on a frog he had rigged up.

Just curious , are you planning on cpr'n or hooking & cooking those salt river monsters?

Welcome to the BOC man! Hey I've fished at Ead's about 7 times in the last 4 months, and only got like 3 runs. I have seen a 16 lb flathead, 7 lb channel, and heard of a 35 lb flathead pulled out of there at the beach though. I love that spot because it is a little secluded.

I would guess that the flatheads would move upriver when it rains. That river swells as soon as it is raining, due to it being fed by the White Mountains watershed. This summer it has gotten as big as its been in a long time, reaching upwards of 25,000 cfs. This last weekend it was flowing at about 180 cfs, to give you sense of perspective. Sounds like a good idea to me...
Bartlett has been real good to me this year.. I fished the river last weekend and did not do any good.. I think the full moon had something to do with it...
~ The Dam area is the best in my opinon, Try fishing the structure in 20-40 feet with gills or live carp for flathead.

Dwaine....I'd CPR any big ones. Smaller ones, maybe under 20 or 25 pounds, would be kept but anything bigger than that would live to swim another day...

Welcome to the BOC...You will find a bunch of great guys hanging out here...many from Arizona and elsewhere.

Eads Wash is a pretty cool place. I have heard of pretty good sized cats being pulled from there over the past couple years. The flatheads have been known to migrate back and forth from the lake all the way up to the diversion dam and beyond. Some people have caught flatties above the diversion dam...even big ones, but they are few and far between. The migrations seem to occur during the spring-early summer and then after the monsoons. During the monsoons, the levels can really increase and create enough depth to allow them upstream.
