I went catfishing with my friend Chris tonight. It was pretty slow at first, with a short, fat mud cat (yellow bullhead) and a few hits but no takers. We then put on some fresh shad we got with the castnet, (2" long, so we fit 3 on a circle hook). After a while, we aren't even thinking about catfishing when my pole goes crazy and the drag is screaming. I jumped over, as I am sure many of yall are familiar with this situation, and started workin in the circle hook. 5 pounds, its only 5 pounds. No, man, its about 7-8, I'll say 9 pounds. (one long drag-screaming run) No, no no its definately at least 13 pounds!!!

Well, to say the least, the fight lasted about 5 minutes and it was a 15pound 5 ounce blue cat. Pretty big for a 3 acre pond, huh? They say there are twenties in there, but this is my new personal best over the 11 pounder caught this past summer. Sorry the pictures aren't great, my camera is horrible in low light conditions.

Thanks, thats quite a few replies already, haha. Another thing I forgot to mention, my friend Chris probably had the best catch of the night. We first started off using small bluegill, he had one that was about 2 inches long. We threw them out and after about 20 minutes decided to recast someplace else. When he got it in, there was a !! CLAM!??? ON HIS CIRCLE HOOK!!! I got the picture right here for proof, it was the funniest thing ever. And actually, right now as I think about it, I had left it on the rear bumper of my 4runner and drove off with it, oh well haha.

He also got a 2 pound bass with the circle hook set perfectly in the side of its mouth, I was surprised to see that because usually they swallow the whole hook. Anyways, here's the clam!

Well that clam surely was still on my bumper, I got it at about 1 oclock this afternoon and thought it was dead cause it was so dry, so I pryed it open and its muscle started moving, so now its in my aquarium with the other fish. I hope it doesn't eat the 2" bluegill i have in THERE, haha.
