Richard I was going to post something like this but was going to wait till after the New year.... LOL but your right the sooner we get started the better it will be. I think the first thing we need to do is come up with a place I did kind of like where we had it last year but that is me, then we need some dates so we can book the place. We will also need to see if we can come up with a some ideas on what and how to cook and a list of who will bring what. Then maybe some good door prizes and such who knows I may just have to raffle off another couple of rods.

A Santee gathering would be cool too. I liked last year's spot myself, I'm just pushing ideas here for centralizing and maybe attracting a larger crowd.
It really doesn't matter, I'll be there!

I'm with Mark on the Santee. Planning this gathering early is great. I will definatly make this years gathering. You guys put you heads together and come up with the place. I think if someone would make a list of things to bring anyone coming could pick an item off the list and bring it with them.

Jim, put me and Tammy down as a "Oh yea!" we'll be there.
Loved the last one and had a fantastic time. It'll be good to see the new friends we made at the last one again.

It sounds like a good time. I wish I could get some Indiana members to go, and you never know I just might be able to. Keep me posted on the dates and I'll try to get a caravan together! I've heard a lot about the Santee, and the Hawgs that have been caught! Take it easy guys and good luck fishin!!

Mark you have a good Idea but Santee is in South Carolina not Georgia, but I think I could see 2 gatherings in the making here. There is a good possibility that could be worked out. As far as the April May time frame that is cooler for sure but also wetter as well however I could be made game for that. I can help Richard work the Georgia side but we would have to find someone to work the Santee side of things. I think I could make that with enough notice and such. Let’s see what we can come up with. We will need some ideas as to date and I don’t think they should be to close to one another as to allow for time to get everything you would need for both. Just a idea here what do ya’ll think?

No, Santee is not Ga, but it's between us in NC and ya'll in Ga.

A whole lot less travel and expense for us to go to Santee and a good possabilty of a bigger gathering.

I'm not saying not to have a gathering in Ga, I'm saying I'd sure like to see you guys come up to Santee state park and meet the many SC fishermen that are here on the BOC. I know I will. I can't say for sure this early if I'd be able to make both, but it's more likely I'll make Santee.

Richard I think we are going to have 2 of them this year 1 here and one at cooper... LOL OK here is what we will need to do then as I see it. We will need a location for here in georgia and a location for SC. So first things first is the location then we need to think about those of us with school age kids so we can plain when school is on a beak or out so they will be able to come and bring the kids if they want. Just a few ideas there to think about.

Richard Santee Cooper is about 3 hours north of me in South Carolina. They get some monster cats out of there and I have always wanted fish there.

Hey Yall...

Its been awhile since my last post.. glad I checked back in. I would like to see a gathering at both spots myself but Im afraid that it would be too expensive to make both and people would have to choose between the two and it will reduce the attendance at both gatherings. Ive always wanted to go to Santee myself and since I never got to fish at Altamaha ( had plenty of chances but had a bad back to deal with) I wouldnt mind going back there too. Also.. when I left the Altamaha gathering this past year I drove to Jessup just up the Altamaha a bit from where we were at this year and checked out the Jaycees boat landing. There is a nice looking store there (didnt actually go in tho) and there is a camp ground of some type there too... just wanted to mention it as another possibility as sooo much of what I read about in articles and web pages talks about putting in at that boat landing. There was nothing wrong with the one we stayed at this year .. just wanted to bring up other options... doesnt really matter to me one way or the other. The shelter that Jim lined up for us was real nice for the cooking and I dont know if the Jaycees landing has a shelter. I dont know if Jaycess would have the bank fishing like the Altamaha Park had either. Yall work it out and let us know... Im open to just about anything myself but probably wont be able to afford 2 gatherings.... not the way GAS is now. I sure would like to see the same group of guys and some new faces this time around and I know it was a long trip for you S.C and N.C. guys to come down this past year.. and what about the drive DH made !!!

I agree with making it in May or June as July and August can get pretty humid and hot here.. we got real lucky this past year and had a nice cool weekend.. very unusual for August and if we try to have it in Septmember or after we are getting into Deer season and that might keep some people from attending too. But thats just my opinions... Ill be happy with what ever gets decided on.

Take care... Sam Sherry

I'll say one thing Santee is a great lake( well two lakes and a canal) and I'd love to go, but this is Georgia and a Georgia gathering should probably be in Georgia. Just my opinion. Seeing that It'll be my first gathering I'll shut up now :0a19:

im bringing the beer!!!!! lol j/k said that to get at my dad.... seriouslythough, there is a place on the flint river called sprewell bluff out near thomaston ga or there are several landings on the altamaha river along hwy 341 , in my humble and somewhat lazy opinion we should try to centralize near the altamaha for the sake of those who dont want to camp and would prefer to stay in a motel... but you know im gonna go wherever the catfishin honchos say i have to put up my nylon condo this time around

i do know that the ogeechee river is supposed to be the cleanest river in georgia, but all of our local rivers run into the altamaha so i guess we might as well fish that one,im not against the idea of camping at lawrence shoals , i just think it would be better to go back to the altamaha.. after all it did have more of the modern conveniences we think we need, like a store. lawrence shoals is just so far out in the middle of nowhere, and the gar will be tearing up any stink bait that you throw out, seeing as how they have become progressively worse out in lake oconee, and me personally i dont like the fish i catch to have teeeth sharper than mine unless i know im fishing for one with teeth
