We fished for a couple of hours, moved twice and caught NADA. We didn't even get a good hit. There is some current. Maybe I need to take up bowfishing. What did you end up with Dewayne?

we left out of teague this morning about 630.. we were goin south, but only got about half a mile when we saw some bass schooling and chasing shad, so we stopped and dropped the trolling motor thinking we would catch us a few bass before goin after the kitty cats.. well, before we left there we had about12 white bass and a couple black bass, , they slowed down about 830 so we headed south again,, we went to 2 spots and could not get a bite, so we decided to go back to the first place where we caught the bass , when we got there the action was nonstop.. we caught more white bass, more black bass, some yellow bass and a bunch of channel cats.. nothing real big.. several of the whites went over 2 pounds and we had one black bass almost 3 pounds.. the cats ranged from a pound to about 2 pounds.. the total fish for the morning was 38.. we quit at 1230..except for the first few white bas of the morning everything we caught came on cut shad, including all of the black bass.. black bass aint special just cuz they will bite a lure.. they wil bite a nasty old cut bait just like a slimy ole catfish...lol:lol:

It was not catfish Rob it was buffalo and gar and a couple of goo. The biggest was about 25-30 lbs. We had a blast.

Well, it's good to be back in the real world. You couldn't pay me enough to live out there. It's so dry that there don't seem to be any real lakes or rivers! Them poor people don't know what they're missing. I can't wait, less than a week to go. I have to repair my trailer lights and my trolling motor plug but neither should be a big deal and I have to get my jugs ready. Sorry Roxie, you're not going to repeat! Can't wait to see everyone and EAT some really GOOD food!!!

Hey yall, sorry to clutter the thread with my personal junk but I wanted to show Sgt. Rob a couple pictures of an idea I've got for some rod holders for my boat. I'm going to borrow his welding expertise whenever I can figure out the best way to mount them. The spiral things are my bank rod holders. I'm trying to figure out a way so I can use them in the boat or on the bank.

who got the trophy? BTW, I fried up some of those RR blue cats last night. Very good, I might add. Guess everyone is hunting or getting ready to hunt. I think squirrel season is open here now, but the ones in the yard don't realize that. My bunch won't eat them anymore, so they're safe.

i launched out of teague this morning about 630..first, i caught my shad and then i headed back to the spot where we caught so many last week..it was a little slow at first.. that might be due to the full moon last night, but i did catch a 3 pound op before sunup.. then it was hit an miss for a couple of hours.. finally around 9 they started hitting... i didnt keep any fish today but i tried to keep a running count in my head.. it was easy at first but then the bite got hot and heavy so i more or less have to guesstimate on my totals, but i am being conservative when i say i caught somewhere between 15 and 20 channel cats.. all from 1 to 2 pounds.. the op i mentioned earlier.. one 9 inch black bass.. over 10 white bass.. all of them were about 2 pounds..more goos than i care to mention... the biggest was about 6 pounds.. and i had a school of striped bass come thru..i landed 2 of them and lost one at the boat.. they were all almost the same exact size.. around 18 inches and i would guess about 2 and a half pounds.. the bite slowed down to almost nothing around1130.. but i stayed another hour after that..i caught a few when it slowed down but nothing like it was during the prime time. for 2 hours i had to cut down to 1 rod and on every cast i either caught a fish or reeled in an empty hook..!the only bait i used all morning was live and cut shad.

Hey ya'll, I've been working on a new potion for catfish!!! Hehehe!!! I'm looking forward to fishing the river again sometime this month. I think I may be on to something but I'm not sure until I can get out on the river and do some sure enough Red River Redneck Experimentation with the new potion in a controled test.

Ya'll look out cause the REV is on his way back and the river will never be the same!!!

Badbob...Sounds like you tore em up today! Good for you. I got Buddy to take me bream fishing this a.m., since we'd been catfishing so hard lately. We ended up with 58, but we sure had to work for em. We'd find a few here, a few there, never really got into a bed of them. But that's okay! It's my last fishing trip for awhile; got to get ready for hunting.
I would've like to hook up to some of those white bass, though. I'll bet they're alot of fun.
Willie, wish you could've made the R4...and you too, Bob. We sure had a good time. And, in case you have heard.....Carmen Won!!! Heehee!

Did anyone have any fun at the R4? I know I sure did. I can not wait now till the Spring get together. I meet a lot on new people this time and hope to see some of those new ones on this site soon.

The bait tank did great, keep the bait alive all night and into the even of the next day. Water stayed cool and clean.

The motor did well also. I loaded down just like I had done with the Yamaha. The Tohatsu would still get up and go. I think I am going to like it.

Rob, LC, and myself went hunting this even. Rob had himself a good hunting partner set in the stand with him. Climbed the tree and sat in his lap. I will let Rob tell the rest.

Well I took Tony up on his invite to me to bow hunt in one of his stands on opening day. We both walked to the stand around 4:30 and heard a loud meow in the woods. While we were doing some final tweaking on the stand the cat showed up. A few minutes after Tony left, the cat started climbing the tree I was in. Now it took a while but she finally made it to a fork about 6' below me and was content on a forked limb for about an hour. Around 6:00, she decided that she'd rather be in the stand with me. We went round and round but she finally won the battle and got to hunt with me until dark. I put her on me backpack and went down the tree when it got too dark to see. We loaded up and went back to Tony's house and left the cat in the woods. Now for the Hero part....

I left Tony's and drove back to the spot where we were parked, hopped out and yelled kitty, kitty and here she came. She didn't mind the hour drive at all and now will be drug around by my boys for a while. Welcome "Cali" to the group.

be glad his kids got the cat and not mine, isaac took some fish and ground them up in erics wench on the boat trailer, last week a baby lizard he was trying to pick up at el chico jumped at him and he slammed his foot down on it in front of my mom and ground it into the concrete...then yelled happy that he KILLED THE LIZARD....

rob, that was so sweet of you to get "cali" and bring her home.....now for the fun part....everyone i have ever known to bring home a stray cat ended up with about 6 more stray cats in a couple months..LOL

Well, wife and I took the daughter-in-law to the LA Boardwalk today. Feed her a good meal at the Crab Shack. That ole river shor looked invitin'. We haven't been in a while now. I've been spending most of my time either indoors or at UT Health Center in Tyler. I think the rag weed count being so high is my main problem. Maybe there is a tea for that. I sure need something.

BTW, I don't know why they moved this off the "river" talk, but what the heck. I don't see where it really matters. Same difference to me.

they aint all that skeered,, cuz this mornin i fished north of the bridge and when it was over i had 24 white bass, 26 catfish from 1 to 5 pounds, 5 striped bass, 1 kentucky bass and 1 black bass for a total of 57 fish.. that doesnt include the little ones i thru back and the ones that got away at the boat and i didnt keep the first 6 keepers i caught this morning either.. all of them bit cut shad in about 13 foot of water.. here is the cool part of the story tho.. they didnt start biting good til about 845..by then i had been there a couple of hours. anyway, there was a bass fisherman working his way along the bank and when he saw me catchin fish one after another, he pulled up beside me and started watchin and talkin to me, he kept hangin around for like 45 minutes, so i finally spoke up and asked if he would like to tie his boat up behind mine, and climb in with me and fish, so he did just that..it took him awhile to catch on to catching catfish but he finally did and he landed prolly 15 of the 57 including the largest catfish and an op.. i think i made a new friend today and a believer in the power of the shad..lol

Hey Kevin, I guess the word got out somehow to them cats that I would be heading back over there to fish again and I'm assuming all those fish that badbob caught musta be hard of hearing or something for hanging around!!! Hehehe!!!

Way to go badbob, looks like maybe you've converted a Ba$$ fisherman into a real fisherman!!! Hehehe!!!

Nice catch Robert. I saw that guy tied up and fishing from your boat but I though he was a friend of yours who had met you out there. I ended up with 8 between 1 and 3 pounds. I lost 2 nice ones on the noodles. The gaspergoo tore me up tightlining. I must have caught 6 big ones.

Glad they're starting to bite again.

i wanted to go back out there today but my fish box is also the drivers seat of my boat and the guy who was supposed to take the fish from me didnt show up last night and the box was way too heavy for me to lift it back into the boat this morning by myself and no one was home this morning to help me with it.. so i got stuck at home.. the guy finally did come for the fish around noon today but by then it was too late to go , but next weekend i am betting that it will be just as good or maybe even better.

Great job Robert! Yall tore 'em up.

Well, I survived Hackberry. We went on a "catching" trip this weekend. There is no way I can tell you how many reds, specks, hardheads, croaker and crabs we caught but we also caught a stingray, eel, jellyfish and ballio (sp?). I brought home 5lbs of shrimp and boiled them up with crab, corn and taters last night. Man that was some fine eatin! The jon boat is ample for what we did in the marsh area and ship channel. It only got hairy once and that was because we were overloaded (over-prepared). I did tear up my prop a bit when I hit a crab pot going about 24 MPH

Went night fishing and had a ball catchin specks and rat reds. Man the fish were just tearing it up. It was even cool early in the morning. Great weekend overall...... Just took a Redfish fillet off the grill, cooked on the half-shell Yummy!!!!!!! Made sum Redfish Courtbouillion as a side, time ta eat. Top of the evening to all ya'll rednecks.........:byebye:

Rupert gland you and Rob had a couple good trips, I went to Grand Isle but didn't fish made a shrimp run, we didn't trawl, we bought shrimp 10 to 15 per lb. for $3. per lb. We are leaving Friday morning going to the Atchafalaya basin out of Morgan city and do some red fishing, a couple of my friends are duck hunters and they take a houseboat to the WMA and leave it till duck season is over, I help for the fishing trip.
Rupert I am looking for a good receipt for court bouillion, do you have one, Tubbs hardware had a mix and cain't get it anymore.

You need to contact the wildlife and fisheries main office in Baton Rouge. They will send you an application and you can send it back with your fees and get one that way. A couple years ago, the freshwater guide liscence was $200(if I remember right). You can also stop by the Baton Rouge office and do everything in one day. The liscence are good for one year(Jan1-Dec31). You have to go through the main office in Baton Rouge to get the liscence.
