Hey fellas,
I was wondering how many species of catfish there are in florida. Reason being im thinking of moving down that away. I love fishing for flatheads and blues. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

hey kycatfishhunter i don't the true number of species of cats but i do know we have channels,bullheads,flatties and blues (we even have walking catfish)......john

It is like most states it is what water in what area are you interested in as to what types of catfish they hold. But John's post is correct and don't forget the saltwater types.

It you will let us know what area you are thinking about moving to someone from that area will answer.

The FWC has a list of what types of fish there are in most Florida waters.

Do you base your move on what type of catfish are there?Just curious.Freshwater has blues,flats,channels,and bullheads(brown and yellow),saltwater has hardheads and sailtops.

The flats are mainly in the larger river systems in the nothern half of the state,channel and bullheads in southern,and the saltwater are,well...,in the ocean :)
