My wife is working this weekend and I am going to have my 3 kids (age 4 to 10) and I want to take them catfishing. I normally take them out one at a time since my boat is fairly small. Is there a place on the MS river, say in Desoto or Tunica counties (maybe even a little further south where we can fish from the bank? Does anyone know anything about the ramp in Tunica County (close to Fitzgeralds Casino)....is there a place to bank fish there? I live in Desoto County and don't want to drive too far since my youngest will probably lose interest fairly quickly. Any suggestions?

If none for catfishing does anyone know any good bream spots I can take the kids to this weekend?

Go to Mhoon Landing where the old splash casino was. There is a good ramp and camping area there. Just north of the boat landing there is part of the bank that has sand on it.

Last time I was there there was two people fishing at the landing and catching small catfish.

Thanks LNGBO. We'll try that out. The kids won't care if they are big or small. Plus the sand will be fun for them even if the fishing is not.

Its not that kind of sand guys its more like dirt. However on the Ark. side in that same section there is plenty of sand. The sand that is on the Ms. side of the river is not in walking distance. This is still a very good section to bank fish.

Well, the wife didn't have to work after all. Also didn't get to do any fishing....forgot about soccer games :-(. I did make it down to Mhoon Landing just to check it out and see if it would be good for a fishing trip with the kids. I don't really think it looked like a good place to take the kids but I do believe I'll be doing some bank fishing there myself. Too many rocks to cross for my little ones. The ramp there didn't look in the greatest of shape but appears workable.

Try going through Walls on goodman road, cross the levy at Bass Landing, the ramp is at the north end. Not much there, if water is down, a good spot to fish from the mud.

A little too far south for me. I am heading down close to Rosedale this weekend. I hope the weather holds up.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the weather. The river is a bad place to be wnen a storm blows over . I am gonna stay home this weekend cause if it dont rain I gotta mow grass, Hopefully for the last time this year! But I gonna drown some bait next weekend. I fish down in Port Gibson out of the Claiborne Co. Port.

We had a great time on the mighty MS this weekend. The water was rough out there......enough to make a land lubber of me had the fish not been biting...... but...... the cats were really biting. We didn't get started until afternoon and we did end up getting rained on pretty good. Luckily the lightning and storm stayed away until we were able to get off the water. This is my fish time attaching a pic....hope it works.

We were juggin'. Fed seven hungry men with a few left over for the camp freezer. We went fishing for white bass Sunday morning and caught a mess too. That's some good eating.

I've got it marked on the calendar but I am not sure right now. With 3 kids it always seems hard to make and keep plans. I'd like to get out there and have someone give me some pointers on hooking up with some big ones:roll_eyes:

My dad and I went out juggin' Saturday and caught a mess of fish. The water was up pretty good but most all the debris has already floated through. We were able to load his freezer up for the winter. It had been many years since he and I have been able to get together and go fishing. I think he had a blast (his first trip on the Mighty MS). Attached is a coupla pics from the trip.:cool2:

We ended up with 15 cats. All blues except for one small channel. We were using hot dogs. Cheapest ones we could find. I always add some red food coloring...don't know if it helps or not but I always do.:confused2:
