Kinda what I figured but I would like to throw out the idea of Altamaha again for the next Ga if all can agree maybe get Gator to help us with the exact site cause him and Paul are real familiar with that river just an idea like I said we can discuss more details after the National is planned for next year

ugh u can say that again....the coosa river isnt very far from you... lots of cats and some STURGEONS!!!!!!!!! they get really big....

also for a little more facts on sturgeons on where they live..try Some Salt Marshes...Sturgeons like them for some reason but the record sturgeon for the state is 498 pounds i think and she was with 100 pounds of roe so keep that in mind that Sturgeons are in Georgia..dont know anything else about em though but Georgia Wildlife foundation has increased their concern for the one and only sturgeon....ok people g night have a good one!!!

Im gonna try to make it for the Ga gathering... I know you arent going to plan further till after the national gathering but soon as we get some configuration/ location the sooner I can put in for off time lol. Coosa or Altamaha are both excellent catfish waters, Im down for either one! I know this thread is last years but maybe somone can point me in the right direction

I'm thinking a river would be a good idea. Never had the chance to fish a good cat river. Might be able to learn something from you native fastwater folks:cool2: . Fall temperatures are great too. Waters still warm but the air temperature is more tollerable.

hey richard,
I like the way you are thinking on the GA. gathering. There is alot of interest here in the area (altamaha river). I have had some bites on new members but having a little trouble setting the hook, if you know what I mean. An event of some kind may help people understand the B.O.C is more than a message board for cat fishing as some have said.Either way, here or somewhere else I am looking foward to meeting everyone at the next gathering.

Tony after I get back from kentucky we will see what we can get going if you get the chance have them look at the pictures of some of the past gatherings from all over the country

Im in North Georgia and willing to drive (cobb-paulding county area) But a 1 hr drive north will take us to chickamagua dam on tennessee river and I can put us on some nice fish there - not sure where you guys are from but just presenting the option. I know that area and waters better than I do coosa or altamaha, and we could get some nice blues.

09-15-2006, 03:16 PM
hey richard,
have fun in kentucky, wish I could make it ,but maybe I can be ready for the next one.GA.gathering that I can make, so when you get back maybe we can get popping on the details.I would like to run up with paul over here sometime ,maybe I will P.M him. Im sure he has some good info on whats going on.

09-18-2006, 11:06 AM
well Ga members I am back after talking to Paul we could plan a spring gathering now it has been mentioned that Jesup has a fairground near the boat ramp and Paul might be able to help us get that if we have enough interest in haveing a gathering in that area and time frame but would like to see a big turnout so lets see what we can come up with and then we will move this over to the gathering section

09-18-2006, 10:34 PM
hey Richard,
so how was the gathering? I think jessup jaycee landing is a great choice for the GA. gathering. Not only will the fair ground be great as far as having enough room for everyone, there is a nice boat ramp on both sides of the river .I've been fishing at least twice a week at night with some of my buddys, fishing is pretty good me and bobby parker both caught 10 lb. flats one night last week in separate boats.I am interested in helping make this gathering great so if I can help just let me know.I own traxxster custom graphix, maybe I can help with some signs or something.also have three race cars we can put on display to draw attention to the gathering.

Alright the national was great with a lot of food and friends some new some old but no strangerswe will get going on ga gathering but I need to check with Paul for next National dates for next year

r ward
09-22-2006, 06:08 PM
After a few messages back and forth with Paul the Altamaha park would be the best idea as there is a store on the grounds and a shelter for the main meal we had our first down there and it was nice so if that is agreeable let me know by post and we will figure out dates give me some ideas on what will work and we can run it by paul against the next national

Bobby Parker
09-24-2006, 12:38 AM
Hey Richard, Jesup sounds like a great place to me. If we can get the fairgrounds it would give you plenty of room. They have agood ramp that three boats can put in at the same time. Just across the river is another good ramp, but no facilities. If I can be of help let me know.
God Bless
Bobby

r ward
09-24-2006, 03:58 PM
According to Paul there is less crime and traffic at altamaha park then the fairgrounds that is why we are considering it

09-24-2006, 10:55 PM
hey richard,
where is the altahama park? I take it, it is somewhere other than the jaycee landing.

the idea of a gathering during a flathead tourniment could improve our chances of growing in membership but if all plans are made for the original dates and we want to keep it that way that is good to but please give me your thoughts on this

We are looking forward to seeing all of ya'll down here.
Welcome to the Altamaha River.
Fellows, I live in Jesup, and sort of have a direct line with the tourism board and the local officials putting on the tourney.
If you have any input, criticisms, comments and so forth., I would be glad to pass those on to the right tournament officials.
Or if anyone needs any guidance about anything not asociated with it, I will be glad to help.
I was raised on the river, and fish it.
I can tell you where to stay, not to stay so on and so forth.

HHH

If you guys can give me some info on just what this is and when and what you guys do there and what kind of things you need help with I maybe able to do so. I live in Savannah right near HAAF base (Hunter Army Air force) at the back gate, so it is very close to me. I do not have a boat any more due to my injuries in Iraq.

I do know quit a bit about cat fishing, different types of rigging, homemade baits, and even lures that catfish will bite, and how to fix a lot of different types of bait casting reels, Boat motors, digital or electical equipment, generators, what ever

I am very good with my hands and figuring out problems that may occur, and I can damn near fix or make anything that takes some created thinking, My 1Sgt kept me with him until I got whacked and was sent home just because of my creativity out in the field.

Thanks
