Amanda, I promise if you let Eric put one of his size 14 (boat shoe) on your head and the other on you chest, you ant going to bite nothing. And to be so big, the boy can run rather fast. So any bites or hits after the fact would be consider assault.

Oh and Carmen, it was one of those inside jokes that no one got except the ones who knew what I was talking about. I think there were just three. of us too.

It was slow for about an hour then they turnd on we ended up with 38, had one around 8 pounds, a several go around 5. The rest were a little smaller, but we had a blast. Just about all of em were in the middle of the river, in about 9 feet of water. Gonna eat good tonight!!!!!:hungry:

Thanks, Kevin! I appreciate that offer. I know she will eventually need a sheetmetal "overhaul", but not just yet... Of all the crazy things that are giving me fits, this thing has a bumper hitch on it that I'm having heck with. Can't seem to get the bolts busted, yet, I will... As to the motor, well, I've got a ways to go before I'm ready to talk engine, but I may take you up on that.

David, it's good to hear that you and your Dad had a great time and a good catch. Those "smaller" cats sure fry up nice!

Will, I'm sorry to hear you are feelin' "goofy". Medication does that more often than not. I hope you are up and running again real soon! Maybe a nice cup of hot tea WOULD help.

I don't run my noodles at night because I don't have a q-beam or a battery yet but if the moon is overhead like it was this morning I might get out there a couple hours before sunup Saturday morning.

Do any of yall have one of those rechargable q-beams? I was wondering if they'd work for noodling at night.

I saw Bud (Xdiver, not you Buddy) pulling out of the research station as I was pulling in this morning. We've had a heck of a time with wasps and hornets on the station this year and Bud is our go-to guy when it comes to that stuff. Day before yesterday we had two guys trying to pour gasoline into an underground yellow-jacket or hornet's nest. They got the first one but as they were backing away from it they stumbled into another larger one. One of them got hit about 20 times and the other about 5 times. Both went to the hospital. Bud sells his honey out of the front office of the research station if any of yall need a quick fix of Bud's honey.

bassadict69
08-10-2006, 07:19 PM
Jim, the rechargeables I have used don't last very long at all before needing a charge.

I think we are planning to try to go Friday night. I only have 2 more weekends that will be free of homework & essay papers. Once the fall semester starts, I am not sure if I will have time to go very often or not.

Do you have one of those 4 or 4 1/2 grinders? If so, they have some cut off disc at Harbor Freight (Bert Kouns & I 49) that will cut those bolts right off. Just be sure you wear some heavy leather gloves and plenty of eye protection. You can do lots of the torch chores with the cut off wheels. They send lots of grit and sparks, but they won't burn you like a torch. Just watch that gas tank! I have a torch, but I used it so little I turned the leased bottles in. I have but up 2 3/8 pipe fence around the front of our place, and I cut the pipe with a cut off saw or the grinder. Any questions, give me a holler.

We're planning on going out tomorrow night from Teague's. Gonna take our granddaughter, Breanna. She said she wanted to go fishing Friday NIGHT, so we'll see! This will be a first for her. She's only been out in the boat with us a couple of times. Maybe the fish will run good on the noodles; I think she'll enjoy that. (Ersel, what's this about me "asking" Christi to go? You're gonna get me in trouble! Hahaha!)

Thanks, Will. That's a fine suggestion, and though I don't have a grinder, it wouldn't be a bad investment. The gas tank is long gone, pipe is still there, but this car hasn't been ran since '92. I'll take care just the same. Thanks again!

If you folks ever run into a jerk like Rupert did...

"we had a couple of ski boats doing circles around us while we were anchored next to the horeshoe. the skier was coming within 10 to 15 yard of us".

You need to call LAWF at 1-800-442-2511. This is a dispatch number and they will get in touch with the right folks for you. Keep a pencil and pad in your boat and write down all the information you can. The numbers on the boat and a description of the boat will go a long way. Describe what they were doing and pass that along. We must take the river back from these jerks or we are going to lose it to them! It is getting worse every year.

If you want catfish1.com decals PM me. I will order them next week.
He would like the color numbers in multiples of four so if we don't have that, I'll front the excess and send the extra to Paul for a Red River Redneck STAR giveaway.

Our squadron is having a catfishing tournament 31 Aug. I won this tourny last year and hope I didn't school them too much. :)

Got a little put back for a Holley 4 barrel. Then it's rebuild the front differential, lockers front/rear, change out transfer case, install lift kit, new tires, new seats.......the list goes on.

Solomon, as to the actual cuttin', I'm probably gonna leave that to Stevie, since he's cut so many of 'em. I might watch him a bit and see if I really wanna do that. I may. Maybe not. Heck, he may not let me. That's the man who's gonna weld my roll cage and bumpers in, as well as mount the seat brackets and harness. Then, finally, he's going to paint her.

I'll talk to him @ the races tomorrow night and see just exactly how he wants her, and WHEN he's ready to do this. Soon, I hope he's gonna do it SOON....:tounge_out:

I came by Teague Landing tonight, and that thing looked like the Wally World parking lot. We put in there this morning around 7 am. Wind was sort of brisk. Went down past J. Davis bridge, and fished in front of that big house. We fished high and low, far and near, and we didn't catch a dad burn thing on those new noodles. They're lime green with orange on the top. Maybe my gizzards and hearts didn't come from the right chickens. Or maybe the color scared every thing away. Around 11am we loaded up and went to Clarks. Caught a good mess of large bream, and several itty bitty cats.

wild willie, when you put out yer noodles, stay away from the channel and concentrate on the sandbars. thats where te fish have been for over a month now, if i had to venture a guess i would say they are just staying with the shad... every fish i have caught in the last 6 weeks has come out of water 7 feet deep or less... also i have been just using live shad,, mostly the ones around 4 inches long.. the small ones dont seek to work and lately the bigger ones dont get bitten at all ,but them 4 inchers have been golden:cool2:

Robert, your 2nd place Ribon is almost as big as my 1st place ribon, but mine is way shinnier. Good job Brother, I have to say it, us Louisiana boys brought it home. Thank God the women did not enter, might have put them on their knees. On their knees say "come out from under the bed and fish like a man"

Yall deer hunters are going to have to stop by my house and see the cleaning area Eric and I have put together. I will take some pics and show you how lazy and smart I have gotten. I have always wanted something like this.

Oh, and Robert, I got two of them Ribons, both are very shinny. Ant they purty.

ok kevin...i mean TONY....you are on....you have done it now....i am gonna have to make this my personal quest.....I WILL WIN!!!!!

This is to all my friends that want to read it.I got my Doctor report and he said there was some plaque buildup in the arteries in my neck but it was not enough to worry about. They want to check them again in a year. That's the good news !! But he did remind us that I do have a heart disease which we already know.He said there are three things I have to do (no if's, and's or but's) I have to take my meds like I am suspose to do,watch my diet and walk thirty minutes a day on the tread mill if I want to stay around a while. So it looks like ya'll are going to have to put up with my Ol' self a while longer.."Sorry"

Anyone use the fang dangled GPS devices? I think I want one of the handheld devices. I see they give you mph, and you can set waypoints. Any body got any recommendations on brands or particular models? I want to stay as economical as possible, but I want the features I really need. I guess what I am tryin' to say is I don't know what I need.

Our squadron is having a catfishing tournament 31 Aug. I won this tourny last year and hope I didn't school them too much. :)

Hey rob, is this open to those stinking Reservists across the parking lot?:tounge_out:[/quote]

It looks like you have to be a member of the Good Old Boy's Club to play. Nothing is keeping you from fishing though. :)

Buddy, with all you have going for you (being married to a flasher and all), I think I'd do what it takes and then some to stay around as long as I could! Take care Brother!

I used a Garmin e-trex for a while. They will give you speed and waypoints and cost is under $100. Don't expect to get a signal in the trees with it. You might want to listen to what the others have had luck with also.

James caught one fish per 4.666 noodles which is a 21.4% average and we caught one fish per 7.5 noodles which is a 13.333% average...

wait a minute. we have to explain simple words to you....but then you come out and give the square root of the percentage of fish caught per inch of current in a waxing gibbous moon with a tangent of +\- the absolute value of the 2nd law of catfishing physics? what the cccrrrAAAApppp was that!

Garmen GPS are really good. I was a pawn broker and I suggest if you want to try one...going to a pawn shop. If it does not have the intructions, you can usually print them out or rquest them from Garmen. I know we had one up at the shop right before i quit that was retail for about 350.00 we had it marked for 60.00. They had it miss marked and i didnt tell them cause i was gonna get it...LOL....bass pro has a really good selection.....and they do seem to know a bit about them when you ask.

I have a fish finder already, and mostly use it for it's depth and temperature function. I don't want to have to do too much thinking while out fishing (especially at my age). I just want something that I can get mph, and maybe some simple directions (if there is such) on. I plan on fishing RR until the price of fuel makes me quit. At the rate that is going, it may not be to long. I have been told of some holes north of Clark's I want to check out, and I would like to be able to mark them on the GPS, know exactly how far up they are, and how long it takes to run up there. As it is now, I don't even know how fast my boat runs at wide open throttle.

Took the granddaughter, Breanna, out last night for the first time runnin' noodles. Ersel & his wife, & Catsmith & his wife were out there also. You guys should have seen her. At first, she wasn't sure what we were doing, but by the time we had to move a few & rebait, she was leaning over, picking them up, handing them to us to get baited, & then she'd put them back in the water. We only caught 4; biggest almost 7lbs. (Ersel, thanks for letting her pull in her 1st one on your noodle!) She learned real quick, if you feel a fish, she'd start hollering "Get the net, get the net"! We were so proud; looks like I may have me a new little fishing buddy!! By the end of the night, she could even tell which noodles were Ersel's & which were ours. We got home about 12:00 with one very tired, but happy little girl.

I bought a lowrance H20 gps last hunting season and it tells mph and can get you there and back. Its worth you looking at but I have not had it long enough to tell you to buy it. But so far I am happy with it. I bought it for 160.00 at bass pro.

I ran 15 noodles this morning from 6 till 11. I came back with 6 fish, 2 dinks and 4 between 2 and 4 pounds. BadBob did better than me but I'll let him speak for himself.

I'm going to put out a trotline tomorrow evening and try to run it every evening until Thursday.
