Mississinewa Reservoir Survey

Hey all you guys fishing Mississinewa. Just wanted to give you a heads up. The DNR will be conducting a general fisheries survey there this week. Electrofishing Monday night and a bunch of gill nets will be set Monday - Thursday. Watch out for the orange bouys if you're gonna' be out there at night.

good look to the survey people. the whole tailwaters is awful shallow. the deepest hole i found was 6. ft deep. followed the river to the confluence @ the wabash river near peru. lots of rock bottom. great for walleye, not so hot for big cats.

The survey in the reservoir captured about 310 channel catfish and about a half dozen small flatheads (largest about 20 inches). Channel cats ranged in size from ~7" to 26" with the largest weighing about 6 pounds. I'll try to get the length frequency distribution posted so you all can see how the size structure looks. Maybe by next summer the age & growth data will be available.
