Olathe Lake water depth. I understand that the park there will soon be posting this online as well.
More detailed images are available (I had to downsize these to be able to post them). A website with the detailed maps will be up soon, along with maps that will have a GPS grid superimposed on the depth map.
The Kansas Biological Survey is in the process of surveying a number of Kansas lakes and reservoirs for water depth and bottom type classification. These maps will be made available online as they are produced. Questions and comments may be addressed to the project director, Mark Jakubauskas, at the Kansas Biological Survey, at mjakub@ku.edu or 785-864-1508.

This sounds great !!!
I would LOVE to have maps like this, especially for the smaller community lakes and the State Fishing Lakes.
Where on the web will they be available ?
Is there a way to know when maps will be available for which lakes ?
At last, a VALUABLE use of my tax dollars !!

Soon as we finish getting the new website completed, I'll post an announcement here giving the link to the Kansas Lake Depth Maps site. The new site should have a clickable map of counties which will then send you to a list of the lakes we've completed or have in the queue.
ALSO - We're open to suggestions/requests for lakes to run our surveys on! Got a favorite lake that you'd like to have a water depth map made of ? Like to figure out where those deep holes are ? Within the limitations of time and money, I'd like to survey some lakes that folks could really use information on.
Post your suggestions here, or send me an email at mjakub@ku.edu.

Which lakes ??
I'd love to see maps for:
Gardner Lake
Wyandotte County Lake
Louisburg Middle Creek
Leavenworth County State Fishing Lake
Douglas County State Fishing Lake (drained and out of service this year)
These are all smaller lakes (<300 acres) relatively near the KC Metro area.
Of course any of the NE reservoirs (Perry, Clinton, Hillsdale, etc.) would also be great, but there are some maps available for them.
These smaller lakes have no available maps for the most part.

Dear Santa (I mean Mark)
I have been a good boy (almost) all year, and would really like a map of Lake Shawnee in Topeka Kansas.
I don't know if you take bribes, so I changed my first name just to honor you (sort'a)
You are gonna be real popular here.

Here you go Nick, the pic is sideways because that is the way the lake is set up if you were entering from Gardner Road.
Do you fish there a lot?? Nick.
