White River Martinsville south - 2005/09/18 14:03
The baitshop here in Martinsville did report that the flatheads are on the bite with at least three nice ones caught last night. A 23, 31 and 38 lb.
All fish came from an area just south of Martinsville, and all fish hit on live goldfish.

Knew i should of gotten out last night

:) That's where we are going this weekend!! :) With the rain that we are going to get, the cats should be very active there this weekend! I sent you an email a little bit ago about the gathering. See you soon!

Hey Sam, why don't you come this Saturday to the gathering in Martinsville? I know you are worried about the safety of your car because of break ins at the parking area, but there are a bunch of people coming. Safety in numbers! Hope you reconsider!

If only the rains would fall. Plenty of lunker flats and channels to be had at the Henderson Ford access site if the water level is up. Henderson Ford isn't a bad place to consider if the dam is packed, and shoreline fishing is aplenty.

How do you get to the Henderson Ford Access site? Thanks for the info.

Depending which direction you are coming from, assuming the north, there are two different ways. I will give you the easiest IMO. Here goes:

1. Take SR 67 South from Mooresville towards Martinsville (or as if heading to the dam).

2. When you reach the yellow flashing lights in Centerton, make a LEFT turn at these lights (Centerton Road).

3. You will cross RR tracks after the turn, then drive approx. 5 miles until you reach Henderson Ford Road. Turn RIGHT. (There is a sign for Henderson Ford Rd at the stop sign, you can't miss it)

4. Drive approx. 3-4 miles, you will cross a long bridge (over White River W.F.). Immediately after crossing the bridge, there is a turn-in to your RIGHT.

5. Make that right hand turn, and follow the gravel road. You are at the Henderson Ford Access Site. There is a boat ramp recently re-paved, and plenty of room for shoreline fishing.

If we EVER get a good day's rain, you can land some MASSIVE cats, I guarantee it.

I hope this helps. If needed, I can give directions for SR37 as well.

These guys are mostly from Indianapolis and is much simpler to get there off of 37.
From 465 take 37 going south. Go through Waverly, and you'll see a sign that points towards the public access site on Henderson-Ford road. It is probably about 6 miles north of Martinsville. You will turn right (west). Stay on Henderson-Ford road for about a mile or two, and the access area will be on your left just before you get to the bridge.

There is also a public access site in Waverly. Can't tell you much about it because i've never been to it, but some of the other guys seem to like it two.

I have fished Waverly a couple of times this summer. Only problem with Waverly is most shoreline areas are snag city. Always seems we pack up and move south, although we've caught some 2-3 lb. channels there.

Thanks for the directions guys. I always love to fish a new spot! Do you think you could make it rain? :D
