Wife and I hit Black River Saturday afternoon around 2:30. We took a dozen live 6" goldfish, and a dozen 3-5" shiners to see how well they would work. We were on the river until approximately 8:30 pm. Only caught two fish, one small flat and one 4-5lb channel. We did have two or three good runs but no hook-up. We suspected the runs were from gar but you never know. Anyway, we had a very enjoyable afternoon and the river was beautiful.

Tops,
Locate Newport on the Map (Hwy 67 north of Little Rock about a 100 miles). You will see the White River. Black River runs into the White at Newport (Jacksonport). The Black then runs north of Newport into Mo. For most of it's length, it seperates the hill country from the delta country. Runs right through Black Rock, Pocahontas, and very near Corning.
