Got my Butt beat again !!

Well the night before last I got me a 38.14 Pound flathead and was pretty proud of it. Until tonight when my son decided to kick my butt again.

Went out on the Ohio River here in Henderson and had several hits tonight. and at 10:30 PM my son Ryan, His fishing pole bent over and took off, full tilt. when he locked in on the fish he told me "Dad" I think its about 12-15 Pounds, As he fought the Fish he got it close to the boat and I heard him stutter a few words and I looked over at him and his pole was bent under the boat and he looked like he had fear in his face..lol

Anyway after fighting him for a little bit he got this fish to the top of the water and I about died, I lost the big fish for the year and only held that record for 24 Hours until this kid took it away from me a Nice 54.0 Pound Blue Cat. I think his Photos will show you how he felt..lol

We ended up with 4 Blue cats and 1 Channel cat at a total of 91 Pound of fish not bad for one evening of fishing.

Last Nite I got a call just as I was getting ready for bed. It was DH telling me that Ryan had just landed that Nice Fish. I talked with Ryan on the phone and I could tell he was totally WIRED. CONGRATS again RYAN. Keep up the great work and don't let DH fish out of the FRONT of the Boat ever. LOL

I told him last night, that for now on he is only allowed to fish with liver and treble hooks and 6 Pound test line. (lol)

That fish truck followed us home, the other night , not sure how it got here, but if this is what it takes to catch fish I guess I will have to keep renting it from Bryan..lmao

We were fishing a wing Dyke, here on the Ohio River, set up right on the front of it. Ryan had casted onto the dyke itself, the hole behind this dyke is almost 50 foot deep and there is catfish after catfish stacked in this hole, all suspended around 30 to 45 foot in depth, these fish have not been active at all for the past two months . Water temp here two weeks ago was in the 90's, The other night when Ryan caught this fish it was 77* a good drop from what it had been here. so we went to this area and As stated above we set up on it.

All I have read about these areas is that when you see Blues gathered up like this and your sure they are blues they will sit there for days just like in a sleep mode, and when one gets hungry and your lucky enough they will swim up to the top of the dyke or end to feed grab bait and race back into the hole.

this night we were out , fish were jumping all around the boat spoon bills and other fish. and the water current was coming pretty good. when this fish hit he took off to that deep hole, and Ryan got him turned pretty quick, and then that dumb fish swam right at the boat, once he seen the boat he dove under it and to the other side where Ryans poles was bent under the boat, and it lifted us off the anchor about 200 yards. but he got him turned around and brought him back to the side of the boat pretty quick.

I just wish some of this would rub off on me..lol

Danny he was using Skipjack cut center of it about a 4-5 inch section with the gut pocket.

How am I to compete with someone like this ? I was excited that I got my personal best the other night went 24 hours and Ryan said thats long enough for your fame now its time to get down to business. and he hauls in a 54 Pounder. Like I said I think I will just become a guide for my son at no Pay. Heck I can see me broke now when he goes into the service next year I will be sitting here all by my self trying to figure out how to catch fish all over again..lol

Steve have you been out lately ? If so have you done any good ? Now know one is able to keep a keen eye on your hogs you catch..lol

I've hit a few of the local lakes just to see IF I can pull any Flats out of them, notta. I haven't been over to the River since early July but will be there in about a week or so. Next May I'll be hitting it harder again.
