Big Channel Catfish

Here is 21lb channel cat from the Minnesota River. My buddy Chris caught this last month. This is the largest I have seen out of the MN river. My biggest is a 16lb channel. Whats yours?

Biggest channel cat to date is 13# caught at a lake here in Iowa.

Boy thats a real nice Channel! What was he useing for bait Rob? Also Welcome Aboard You will love this site the folks are really GREAT! He caught it on a live bullhead. We never target them we just pick em up while flathead fishing. The way it seems to work for me is if I get a large channel it will be followed by a big flathead. Last year I caught 15lb channel follwed by a 38lb flathead and on a different outting a 14lb channel followed by a 39lb flathead. This year I got a 11lb channel followed by a 43lb flathead!:big_smile: All on bullheads

NICE Channel Cat! Any over 20 pounds gets the state record for NC for now, my dad and I are going for it. So far biggest I got was 15lbs 8oz, but I've caught a lot in the 10-13 pound range. Strong fighters! Sometimes I think I've got a big blue cat hooked and it ends up being a big channel cat instead.

My biggest is only 10# 2oz. Caught on live shad while flathead fishing. I fish some spots where I know 15#+ have been caught. Plus, my girlfriends uncle has some ponds with channels in the 30#+ range. I thought they were full of it until I saw the pics.

Nice channels! I dont ever specifically target channel cats. The ones I get are while out targeting flatheads using bullies. I have only caught one channel this year and that was about an hour before I caught a 43lb flathead. All the large channels I have ever caught have been caught before some of the biggest flats I have caught.
