Testing the Scanoe

I went to Chaparral Lake to test out my new trolling motor. Everything worked fine, except my trailer lights. So now I have something else to fix. Two steps forward, one step back... that's usually how life works.

55lbs. of thrust pushes a 16 ft. square sterned canoe along at a pretty good clip. I would guess around 10 MPH. I will know for sure when I get a portable depth finder with GPS. :-)

Oh yeah, it was HOT.

I need to name this thing. So if you have any ideas, let me know.

I've got an old Coleman Scanoe that I bought new in 1974, great boat for the creeks and a lot more stable than a canoe. I put a 5 hp motor on it a few times and it would really go, but you had to watch turning it, that flat keelless bottom made sharp turns with a motor kind'a interesting.

How about the 'Titanic'? Looks like a 200,000 ton iceburg would definitely take it out. Of course, you probably don't have to worry about that happening unless we have another ice age. Seriously, it looks like a good little boat for one or two people.

Glad you tested it before the Roosey trip next weekend. HOw much battery juice did you use up for the short run around the pond? You have an idea for charging it up next weekend while you are at Rosey?
