We Won! We Won!
Hello everybody! Oh man was the racing good last night. I got lucky right off the bat, drawing a low #, which started us on outside pole in our heat race. We won it. That put us in position, inside pole, for the feature race. That also put the other top cars right up there with us, and friends, it was a battle. But when the checker flag came down, it was ours, WE WON!!! This is our first feature win this season, and wow, it was sweet...

Hello everyone Matt & I went out around 4:00 am this morning. Ran some jugs did some tight lining. Caught 2 keepers on R&R and 3 keepers on the jugs. The jugs never went more than a quarter mile from us because there was no current. Lloyd [Ducku] it was nice to meet you. The kittys just aren't biting. Anyone else having any luck?

I got on the river yesterday at 4PM. Luckily I made it to 12 Mile in one piece with all of the Ding-Dong on the water and caught Bream till 8PM. Met Lloyd, real nice feller. Moved up river to fish and they were still skiing at 8:45. I fished till after midnight catching several under-sized fish. Moved down river and baited up 150 hooks. I caught a Gar, 1 5Lb Op, and 1 4Lb Blue. Every hook was stripped so I went home at 3:15AM. Since the Redneck Tourny I have put 25-30 fish in the boat over 5Lbs but nothing over 8Lbs.

Thank ya'll...
I simply don't have the words to express how much fun we're having on that dirt track. Win or lo... or not win, it's awesome.
I would like to have ya'll come out and watch sometime. It's a good place to bring the kids,( just bring em' some earplugs cause it is loud ), with a huge sandbox, decent concession and such. No alcohol allowed.
Anyway, it's not like the fish are biting right now. It doesn't sound like anyone is having any luck. Tony, Eric and I sure didn't catch Friday night. Thank goodness frog season is in swing again or our camping trip would've been a bust.
Good luck to all the rednecks who are trying to kill the bunny...

Congrats Carmen on the win. You are right about the fish not biting. alot more fish in my casting net. I had bream, ba$$, striper, goo, and gar in my net at one time. If anyone needs shad I caught all I needed in one cast of the net between the tug and barges underneath the Shreveport Barksdale
bridge.

Well, I made it through the weekend without kill Eric or myself. That was a plus. Carmen was there for most of it to keep watch on us. When Eric is not playing right, she makes him go sit down for a time out.
I could have caught a lot more frogs if I would have had a motorman Friday night. I would get all stretched out and ready to catch a frog, and Eric would goose the motor and send me in at 20mph. I did miss the first one due to the rust on the old grading hand, the rest of the misses came at the hands (9 ˝ fingers) of the motorman.
Got to go. See yall.

Our lines were empty yesterday afternoon so I let my bait bream go and ain't gonna waste any more gas and time until the current picks up. haha According to my new sonar, I've put around 400 miles on my boat since I installed it right before the Bishops Point tournament. Some of my trips I didn't even take it along. It deserves a break.

06-05-2006, 07:07 AM
Be careful Eric when you go back to burrow land.
I finally got word on my boat after the fire. There was some cosmetic damage and it is not the bathing beauty it used to be but the metal is fine and it just needs new stickers. I do not care enough to paint it right now. I got a metal man to check it out and it is fine structurally. Good thing cause the ins company had a cap on the boat that would not have replaced it.
If I find the right toon I might just sell the "fishin impossible".

Carmen, congratulations on the win! Maybe since the fish aren't biting we can get a red neck gathering to watch some dirt track racing.
Tony, glad to see that you and Eric are playing so well together! I'd say that you were brothers if I didn't know better!
I put out some limb lines but didn't catch anything. I was thinking that it was just me. Also spent some time planting bushes and trees out at our lot on the bayou. The weekend was essentially spent doing one large chore, painting my shop. I hate painting but at least it's done. I think that I'll try some night fishing though this coming Friday or Saturday.
Amanda, I know what you mean about going to work today. I hope your day goes well and you don't have to become national news.

Robert, I sure hope you find a pontoon soon. One with just the right $price$. Color doesn't really matter does it ?
Amanda, go easy on em' girl. The only headlines we need to be making are of one of us winning the lottery, or catching a state record catfish, or something of that nature. I was proud to see you, David and Isaac Saturday morning. What did he think about those big frogs?
Emmett, I've been wondering where you were. Sorry to hear that you're not having any luck either, but I'm just not surprised. The kitties seem to have lockjaw.
Roxie, where are you?:confused2:

Carmen isaac loved that frog. Well he loves every thing, he wants to catch what he sees. Is Tony still talkin about his side hurtin from that push pole he fell on?
We need to follow them two with a camera and film all the action of these two, so we will have somethin to watch when we aint fishin. They may be the next T.K. and Mike.lol
ratherbracin
06-05-2006, 12:54 PM
David, I'm afraid TK and Mike would be shocked and amused by these two in action. The very thought of filming them makes me nervous...don't know if that is a good plan. But tell me. What is considered "submissible evidence"?
Don't tell Tony, that push pole fell on him, not the other way around. Sshhh...

First, Hello Carmen..yes, I'm still here, just been real busy. CONGRATULATIONS CARMEN ON THE WIN!!! We are gonna have to come watch you sometime. I think if several of us met up there, we could have a good time!
We went to a daylilly farm in Bethany, Tx. Saturday. I was overwhelmed! This lady has a beautiful set-up. You get a list w/prices, types, etc. Then you just walk through all the rows of flowers, & start picking out what you want. We bought 8 different ones; they're really nice. Of course, then I had to get home & get them planted!! Then Sunday, we went to a crawfish boil @ Buddy's sisters' house in Benton. They "invited" us, & then informed Buddy he was gonna do the cooking!! But it sure was good! So..no fishin' this weekend, but we were busy the whole time!
Amanda...don't let the "turkeys" get you down at work. It's just a job...it's just a job. Hang in there. Catsmith, hope you can get you a 'toon boat soon. Hopefully something will turn up. And to TK & Mike....good luck in the tourney...oh, & Rob, too!! Tony, I can't believe you haven't seen any TK & Mike shows. They are hilarious! Anybody heard from Rev, yet?? Gotta go for now...Buddy's waiting to get on here, I think!!

Just wanted to introduce my self, seen catfish1.com on the back of a motor on the Red last weekend and visited the site. Really like it. Have been fishin for cats, lately have been doing pretty good. Mostly 1.5 to 3 lbs but at least 30 to 50 a day. On Saturday My first fish was 25.9 lbs. on a digital scale. Biggest to date on a rod and reel, man was that fun. We had 19 in the live well to fillet. Would like to meet some of ya'll ta swap lies, and info on the red on what works and what don't . I mostly fish out of Bishop's Point, but things really slowled down there so I moved to stoner off Clyde Fant. That's where I saw the boat with catfish1.com on it. Well gotta go gonna turn some kittycats loose in lake crisco. May all ya'll lines stay stretched with drags screaming

David Eric and Carmen came over today and Carmen told me who TK and Mike are. Never heard of them. I guess I need to get out more, or maybe I need to stay in and watch TV more. Who knows?
Buddy, I want you call me the next time you around here. I want you to see my new deer skinning pole. I took a old telephone pole, put what we call alley arms on it, and use guy wire to brace the alley arms for my hanger. I put boat winch on the pole and put a power company ele pulley up at the top. I ran a cable out to a teleco thimble eye (fairlead) and wala. I have new deer skinning pole. You have got to see it. If you can't find me, just walk around back and look at the bldg that I was working on the other day when you came by. I think it is a telephone mans dream pole. i will take some pics if I can find the camera.
Amanda, I am still looking for the camera. My wife want tell me where it is. She is in bed asleep right now, and God help I don't want to disturb her, she need all the beauty sleep she can get. I mean being a red head and all she can wake up with one of those, well, looks that only a mother could love, you know. And mean, God that women is so mean. Well got to go. We are having a "Gathering" in September. You can get caught up on that in the gathering thread. The one we had in May was a blast. A local night tournament is being cooked up. Several of us are part of a BOC national gathering which last through 10 Jul. You can still get in if you want, just sign up on that thread and pay the small entry fee. They will place you on a team. Well my friends, I have good news. The bite is back on. I am also gonna tell you what they are biting on.....nothing. That's right, you heard what I said, nothing. I had 2 lines in the water, 1 with 45 hooks and 1 with 75 hooks. The long line had a couple of Bream on it Sat night when I ran it the last time (got tired of feeding the Gar) and the short line had a 4 lb Blue, the rest of the hooks where empty, bare, naked, you get the pix. Went this morning after work to pick them up. Ran the long line first and took off 1 2 lb and 1 4 lb Blue. Took up the short one and it had 11 fish, 1 was a half pound the rest where between 2 and 5 pounds all caught on nothing, just an empty hook. So when you head out next time remember to take a big ol' can of nothing with you, it works right now.

That's just it, all of them except 1 were hooked in the mouth. 1 fish about a pound was foul hooked in the back. I had shad on the line Sat. night and ran it before I went in. Took off 1 4 pounder and was out of Shad so I was coming back later to rebait. I guess there was still enough scent on the drops. Either that our they saw me coming down the channel and knew they better jump on a hook if they knew what was best for them.

Problem is unless they are getting it above Texarkana and up the Red River valley through Ok, it will not do us much good on the river. Local rain will not make the river jump enough to have good current for more than a day.

Rupert,
welcome to the BOC. I am new and here to learn. Some of the more experianced anglers have taken me under thier wing and are teaching me the right way to pursue whisker fish. So far I have not learned anything about actually catfishing
Here are some of my observations:
Sgt Rob is a metro sexual catfisherman. His boat is just so. It is always neat and tidy and he fishes with dynomite when no one is looking.
Tony got his start as the banjo kid on the movie deliverance and is Erics twin in another life
(True Story) Eric threatened to kill my oldest son if I missed a catfish with a dip net

Here is what I put together for skinning deer and fur. This is a telephonemans shinning dream. Eric and I are working on the inside of the bldg getting it ready for hanging fur. You can see the fish skinning table is now covered and I put a new good water line to the area. I put buried power to the bldg also.

Tony, your skinnin' pole looks pretty good, but you should have moved Eric's little wagon first!

Roxie the wagon is what we use to bring Eric's fish to the skinning area. The fourwheeler is what we have to use for mine.

Here is the scoop. You can see that David's son is hold my cousin Charlie last Sat. morning. I think that we will put him in the front of the boat next time we go out and let him grab the frogs. I think he will be a natural at it. Just as long Eric is not running the motor.
Poor cousin Charlie was happy in the pic as he thought he was being moved to golden ponds. He just did not know it was really golden grease in a iron skillet.

Just for the record, which my son Michael is keeping. He out fished me the other day. He made sure to tell Eric today how bad he kicked his daddies butt on the pond the other day. I was LMAO hearing him tell Eric about it. I was so proud of him the other day. He fished really well. I put him on a cane pole, and he could put the hook right where he wanted it. The best time for me was when he saw the minnows swimming and said he was going to catch one. He fished and fished till he did just what he said he was. He caught a minnow. I don't mean foul hooked either. He hooked the minnow in the mouth. We had a good time. In fact, I think I will take him bait catching for me this weekend. Kind of reminded me of going fishing with Eric.

Dear God is it getting deep around here! You boys better play nice together or your better half will put a knot on your heads!
I just had a weird thing happen here. I was pulling my boat to it's parking place next to my shop when one brick wall of the shop collapsed. Part of it hit the trailer but the only thing on the boat/trailer that was damaged was a running light. When the wall fell though it broke the gas line too so the gas is turned off now. Weird things happen to me but the Lord was with me on this thing. It could have been worse. This could easily have trashed the boat but didn't. Whoever built this shop wasn't a professional. When I looked at the framing, I only saw one attachment for the brick. It's not a wonder that it fell, just that it didn't fall years ago.

Carmen I was picking on Eric not you. Now Lloyd on the other hand was picking on you and misspelled your name. On purpose mind you. Now I would not want to cause any trouble or anything, but I just thought I should be the one to make that observation. And bring it to your attention.
I saw you on line looking at the thread and have been waiting here rechecking every 2 min just to see what you were going to post. LOL

I saw you lurking in the User CP and had to mess with you. I just couldn't resist. Besides, Eric was standing over my shoulder, pretty much insisting. (And for the record, I cleaned it up a whole lot from what he wanted to post.)

Sgt Rob,
The numerious shotgun shell reloaders and the Remington Arms banner on my garage wall are a constant reminder to any bad deed doers that you dont want to come pussy footing around the Webb household. If you like I can come over and give you some suggestions on how to make your garage more manly. I would remove the Elton John poster and replace it with one of John Wayne.

We'll be talking about hiding the bodies when you get out there. After all the kittys have got to eat also, except when I'm out there feeding them shad.

They are just holding the big fish as long as they can so the others wont have any idea what size they are catchin. In other words the others dont know what they need to catch to win. Since they are taking pictures of the kittys they submit the photos at any time.

Amanda I wish I could have seen Issacs faced when he was froggin. I didn't have a son to teach the joys of the outdoors. I had 2 girls and tried to teach them but they are to much like their mom a city slicker. When I talked about going fishing thet wanted to know whether we were going to Jans
River Restaurant or David Beirds Catfsih King.

Don't get me wrong I love my girls with all my being. Wouldn't take nothing for them and would gladly give up everything for them. I do have a soon to be 2 year old grandson, cant wait for him to say lets go fishing paw paw. that will be a happy day.
