White River Flathead Catfish, 29 May 06

Last night I took my youngest boy, Jordan, who's 6 years old, to White River in Indianapolis and he caught his first ever Flathead catfish (7lbs.) that he reeled-in on his own!
Later on, I caught a 15lbs. fish which is my best one so far this year.

Both were caught on live sunfish hooked thru the lips on a 4/0 circle hook with about an 18", or so, leader.

I guess based on the ratio of fisherman vs. fish size, Jordan beat me this time!

Nice flatheads. Bet he's hooked now. I've still yet to get a flathead out of the river this year, but it's generally been up too high to get to my honey holes. Oh well, still catching some nice channels though.

Congrats on both catches. Let your son know I'm jealous......I've been fishin' for nuthin but flatties this year and have struck out everytime. If he writes a book, I'm 1st in line!!!!! Kudos squared!
