Bull Daddy, I have made it. It was a long and hard fought jonery, but I am here. Went Frogging with Sgt. Rob on the River the other night and caught 7 good frogs and that was it. We motored south and started in Beehive lake and came all the way back to the ramp a Teauge. Didn't see but 11 frogs total. Oh well they ate good.

There you are. I was wondering when you were going to come over. Eric called me today and wanted to go to the MS River the 26th, I can't make it due to my son's 5th BDay party. I hope to go early Sept though.

I know Rob ant lucky, I have seen his luck. If it can happen to someone it will happen to Rob. In fact, you just watch, they will tell him they made a mistake and he will have to send it back.

Hey ya'll what is the name of the prop shop in Shreveport? I am going to check with them and see what they have. I know I have heard Rob talk about it.

Michael, is that supposed to be a fish or a pair of hooters? Good to see you're back in action! How's the fishing been going lately? We figured you Centrytel boys must have had all the fish caged up down South. That would explain the lack of cats in my neck of the woods.

I almost forgot to tell yall that Bulldaddy was almost the father of 3 today. His wife was having contractions every 3 minutes but she is only at about 28 weeks. She is on bed rest and drugs to keep that yougin in for a while longer. We need to wish him luck.

Rob,
Can't you see it's the top half of a heart with an arrow through it.
Catfish Lover I had to drop the fish to get it to fit, clever yes?

Hey guys. Looks like they are going to keep us in the hospital for at least a week. They have my wife on a magnesium IV to stop the contractions and so far it is working. If they get the contractions to stop completely she can take the meds by mouth and be able to come home. The doc wants to try and make it a couple of more weeks but he is giving her steriods to help the babies lungs develop faster in case we don't make it much longer. He said boys develop slower than girls so it is a little nerve-racking right now. I came home to get cleaned up and new clothes and back to the hospital. I'll talk at you later guys.

I hope everything comes out alright Bull. I went through that with my last child. Every thing came out fine. He is a happy, healthy, 5 year old this 31st. All boy too. There is not much I can do from here, so I want ask if there is anything I can do, but I will keep you'll in my prays.

Rob, you did not reply to my thoughts on your luck buddy. I was disappointed. I knew you would reply to that. I know, that you know, that I am full of ___. But you do have worse luck than me. LOL. Wait, I didn't win a rod. Hey maybe your luck is changing or maybe it rubbed off on someone else. I hope I didn't catch it the other night frogging. Later and thanks again for the info. :D

We got 24 more hours without a baby. They are taking it one day at a time now. The longer they can hold off the better for the baby. Well, back to the hospital. Later guys.

Ty you have not missed anything. Oh and Rob is not fishing anymore, for a while. I know if Rob ant fishing, there is no reason for me to go. When Rob quit fishing and took a break, you the fish ant evening nibbleing. LOL. It is just to hot and I football season has started for me. I will be refereeing every Friday night for 9 to 10 to 12 weeks. I hope to get some playoff games this year and hope to go back to the championship game again this year. I have a blast last year at that one. Hope to see you soon. It will cool down soon I hope. Later

I took my neighbor out Fri night to the new spot up 12-mile and didn't do real well, we put one 4# in the cooler. I did however have one on that was so heavy I couldn't get the rod out of the rod holder before he got off. I'm going to move up a size or three and put some bream on the hook next time I get out there.

You hang in there Kevin. It will all come out OK (no pun intended).

Rob talked with Dale and Bobpaul and both told me to raise my motor. I am going to see what I can do to get it up. I need me a pcs of alum. I am going to try something like what we did to your boat. It has worked out good wouldn't you say. Yours runs faster for sure. Dale said he would get it up even or a little higher. What do you think about yours the way it is? I am heading out there now and look to see what I can do to it. Will call you later.

We are back home! They got the premature labor stopped and under control. My wife got to come home this morning after almost a week in the hospital. This has been the longest stretch of not fishing in a while.:D I guess it was for the best anyway cause it sure has been hot. LOL I am going to hit Loggy Bayou this weekend and see how the bite is there (and maybe catch a froggie or 12 Tony!) Later guys.

I am glad to hear that Kevin. That is good news. I have faith that everything will come out okay. I hope you catch a pile of them this weekend. I am going to be out Sat. night for a little while or longer. My fishing buddy will be in Friday night. I hope you catch a pile of froggs to. If you need someone to cook them for you, I will do it. Just send them on over and I will fix them right up for you. LOL. You know as the cook I will have to sample 1/2 of them to make sure they are fittin to eat.

I am so glad to hear your wife is home. There is no place like home, that is for sure. Catch you later.

08-24-2005, 06:16 AM
Glad to hear you all are back at home. Now tell Myra to get to work! hehehe

Tony, be careful about going too high. If you go even 1/4" too far up, you are stuck with it and the prop will suck air. Try mounting the motor on what ever you are going to use and run it in the water before you weld it. I was looking for some aluminum for you yesterday but most everything out at my shop is steel.

I took Logan out fishing Tuesday afternoon for a little while with no luck. The water sas so still is smelled stagnant up 12-mile bayou.

cuttingout69
08-24-2005, 09:44 PM
Rob I am going to leave the motor where it is for now. I am just going to put a new prop on and go from there. I am going to get the same size and pitch I am running now and just make do. I am getting 23.6 mph out of it. The best I could hope for is 25 I hear. I will run that motor for another year or so and get a new one. Next one will be bigger. 30-40 hp. I will be out Sat evening with gooboy1313. Are you going to be here this weekend or are you going to be out of town? Give me a call. I have got to ref Thurs and Friday nights, birthday party Sat morning. Will leave to go fish later Sat evening.

Ty are you going to be over this weekend?

08-24-2005, 09:55 PM

Glad you folks made it to the other side. I didn't realize things on the other side were going away. Hope all is well. We aren't catching much in Baton Rouge area lately, but maybe it will pick up some or we'll learn better how to catch em! Sgt Rob, I see a Chicot is in the works

Just got off the phone with gooboy1313, it is 12 midnight. Hey has 12 fish in the boat, the largest is 18.75 pounds. He has a 10 and 12 in the boat also. Non of the other fish are less than 2#. He is catching them on shad. I has tried everything from punch bait to caterpiller worms. He has caught every fish on shad. He has already been broken off three times. Find the current brother. I will be out there tomorrow around 4 pm. He said the bite fell off real bad after night fall. Catch you later brother.

A buddy at work told me his father-in-law and a buddy fished by a jetty somewhere around Bishop's and caught over 100 cats all over 12" Wednsday morning. They caught them on night crawlers on rod and reel. I caught 15 keepers Friday and threw back 30 that were under 11", all Channels. Tony, I will look for you and Rob Sat. night if I get a chance to get out. Good luck if I don't see ya. Later

Hey ya'll, gooboy1313 and me caught 50+ cats from 1 lbs to 6.11 lbs. We fished up at Cash Point in 11 foot of water with good current. I had a the best time R&R fishing I have ever had. We caught ever fish on cut and whole shad. I use whole shad put on the hooks like Rev Ty showed me to, and Gooboy was cutting his up. We also caught 10+ goo and he caught about 10 softshell turtles. Half high backs and half channels.

I have been told to pack my bags and be ready to pull out Monday evening. I don't know where I will be going yet or if I will even have to go. It all depends on where the strom to goes. Less all pray for the people in the south end of our great state. See ya'll later.

1 largemouth
1 White bass
5 Blues (biggest was 29"/scales say 9.5 lbs)

I'm going fishing on the Red Saturday and Monday morning. I haven't caught anything worth mentioning in over a month. Must be the heat or just a funk they get into between breeding and heading south in the fall. I would think they'd try to pack on a few pounds before the water temp starts to fall
(not that that's going to start for awhile). Anyways, they've got to eat sometime. I've got the shad iced down and the rods loaded up.

Good luck to everyone this weekend.

cuttingout69
09-02-2005, 11:29 PM
Alsey, we caught 54 head of blue and channel no fresh shad last weekend. Find current. We are going to try some jugs this weekend. We caught those last weekend on R&R.

A few fiddlers and the manditory gaspergoo. I'm going again Monday morning somewhere else. I think I might try bank fishing just below the lock and dam gates on the Shreveport side. I hate to drive that far with gas prices so high. If anyone needs shad or live bream I'm going to load up tomorrow afternoon and can get plenty extra. We've got a wetland pond at work that is about to dry up and all the fish are concentrated in a 20x20 foot hole.

cuttingout69
09-04-2005, 10:28 PM
Rob we caught 15 fish. I had two channels that I did not remember caughting and a bunch of 5 pounders that were more like 2 pounders. I had a good time, I just wish we would have been in the same boat. lol, I think we could have done some good. Eric caught a 15.8 high back. I will caught up with you later.

Hey Guy's! Just wanted to let you know I'm still kickin, I just ain't fishin yet. Finally got my mother-in-law moved in and that has been a chore with waterlines and sewer lines and electric lines. Now she's only fifty feet to my right. See what happens when you have to quit fishin for a while, you start doing funny stuff like moving your mother-in-law next to you! Way things are going it may still be awhile before I get to fish again and the price of gas ain't helpin matters none!!! Ya'll keep em busy and good fishin!! I'll be keeping up with ya'll on the site. Good Luck to All!!

09-05-2005, 08:48 PM
Ty the fish are biting in the current. We have be putting in up river at cash point and do okay. I have never seen so many shad as what is there are up there. We did not do real good on the jugs. I have been R&R and putting them on the hook like you showed my to. I did good for a while with whole shad, then they quit bitting. So I tried some cut shad and they started baiting that for a while. I only caught 15, but had a good time. We need to get together and good fishing.

09-06-2005, 01:01 AM
Hey Tony I was out at Cash point this Morning also. You are right about the shad I have never caught so many at one time in my 2 years fishing the Red. We caught about 15 also only 4 keepers and several goo's. Hopefully will try again next weekend.

Tony, I believe you or Eric might know a guy named Paul. Seems like the story I told Kevin B. about yalls camp was getting retold by Paul so Kevin stopped him and said "is this camp North of Clark's". Yep. Either there are two similar camps in about the same location or you must know this guy.

We stayed dry the rest of the weekend after the Cash Point trip. I think I cleaned 7 fish Saturday morning. The price of gas compounded with these lock-jawed cats makes it tough to justify wetting a hook.

I sent my two Abu's in for repair or replacement last week. Turns out they did a modification to the reel during production and they don't make any of the parts that fit the original assemblies. I should end up with two brand new reels out of the deal.

Ya, Rev Ty may not be able to do much about the divorcing, but he can marrie you as he is a preacher and all. :D

Don't know a Paul, Rob, I would need a last name. Eric I am sure knows him, as he knows everyone. I want to go wet a hook this weekend so bad. I had a good time last Sat night. I think I might like the rod and reel thing after all. LOL.

cuttingout69
09-07-2005, 08:35 PM
ya, I don't know him. It would have to be Eric, as he knows everyone. I have been getting my deer stand ready for deer season, if I can get you to break away from fishing long enough I want you to go with me, and kill a big one. I shoot at about a 400 lbs pig yesterday. I was shooting with my 22 pistol. not much damage done, but he did not want any more of me at the time. lol. later.

You're on! I've got a 45-70 that hasn't had a round down the chamber in a while. I think it will get 'er done. Let me know when and I'll be there.

cuttingout69
09-07-2005, 10:07 PM
Talked to Eric while ago and he knows Paul real well. Said Paul helped skin beaver with him last year at the camp. I am going to the camp this weekend to clean it up. I have some stuff down there that needs to be removed.

And yes, I think a 45/70 will do the job on a deer. We will get together this season and go. I can't promise you to see deer, but you will have a good time that is for sure. I have orders from the wife to kill three deer right off this year. She said she does not want to run out next year like we did this year.

Now this is real bad, since I've been here since 2001, but what are the limits in LA? Where do yall hunt? I'm used to hunting on either private land in Ms (now sold) or the National Forest in Montana back when I was there.

Hey, Yodaddy. I told you if you have to stop fishin for a while you'll do funny things. For the sake of your wife and mother-in-law don't stop fishin!!!!

Rob, how well does that prize you won work?

Tony, glad to see your finally getting into R&R fishin. I told you it was a blast. You still calling games on friday nights? Guess by the time I make it back to fishin, you and Rob and Eric will be spendin all your time in the woods. Now that Gertrude has found her a new boyfriend I won't have anyone to keep me company.

Well, gotta get goin, ya'll don't forget me now, you hear. Hope to see everybody again real soon. Kinda scared my boat's gonna rust away before I can use it again, and it's made out of aluminum!!!

Good luck to all and GOOOOD FISHINNN!!!!!!

Ty, Gertrude made an appearance last weekend 1/2 mile North of her old hangout. We were anchored on the Bossier side and she popped her eyes up out of the water for a long time checking us out before she rose up showing her length and then disappeared. She made Mary a little uneasy but nobody else was worried. As far as the rod goes, I'll let you know how it works when I get it; so far I just have the picture to look at. Time Hade is working on trying to figure out what happened to it.

Rob, bow season opens Oct.1, and modern gun season opens the first full weekend in Nov. And yes it is a privet lease that I am on. I have hunted here all my life and then it became a lease so I joined it 12 years ago. We have club box stands and I have several personal lock ons and one personal box stand to hunt out of. We kill a lot a 8pts every year and we also have some bigger ones killed every so often. This is where I kill the 13 pt that hangs in the living room.

Ty good to see you on here brother. I was starting to wonder about you. I got into that R&R fishing the past two weekends. Those shad do the trick. I hope to go again soon. I am calling football again on Friday nights though and that put the hurt on the fishing. I call in Franklin La next Friday night. I will have to leave work early and drive to Ruston to catch a ride on to the game. Gas is killing me right now. You know I do it cause I love it, cause it ant paying very well. Next week, I will use half my pay to get to the game. I have fun though. See yall later. Check out the pic of the deer I am talking about.

Tony, Nice Buck! Mary just wants some venison, you can't eat the antlers.

We got to the River this morning and Low and behold if Paul wasn't there running a catfish tourney! The entry fee was $20/team but we didn't have a dime on us wo we passed. There were only two teams in the water at 8:00. We came out at 11:30 and brought out a 13" and a 16". The weigh-in was at 2:00 so we went back for it. A single team showed up for the weigh-in with a 1 lb fish and took the prize and the big-fish pot!

cuttingout69
09-10-2005, 10:49 PM
No you can eat the horns, but they sure make for a good memory of the hunt that took place. If you just want meat, I can just about promise you to get that. You can kill all the does you want.

Paul should have told more people about the tourney. I was off today and would have gone to that. I have never inter a torney in my life, but I would have on that one just for fun. Oh well. I wish I would have known. I was out today, and did not see you. I went to the camp and got my live box other stuff. Saw two gators while down there. One just about where where we saw the two that night we went frogging. The other north of the port. I put at Teauge and ran down. I like that run for some reason. I saw a lot of bass fisherman and cat fisherman out today. Did not see you. I was there at about 9am came back at 12. did not stay long at all. I will see you later.

I took my two boys out froggin Friday night right here by the house and was amazed at the amount of frogs here. I saw the biggest frog I've ever seen but couldn't get him. I was holding the light and Logan was netting them. We ended up catching 3 and losing 3 but saw about 50; most were smaller and needed to grow up.

I went out Friday night around 12:00 down at Clark's/Caspiana Lake with my neighbor. We used a lantern and shad and did OK. The action was really on from 3:00 - 3:30. The bugs were real bad after 5:30 and bass tourney guys were getting ready to launch so we got out of there as they were taking off around 7:00. I ran home, took and shower, changed clothes, ate some breakfast and took the family out fishing North of the pump house from about 0830 - 1230 I think. We ran as far as a mile North of 220. We caught the heck out of some dinks but only put a few in the cooler.

After a 3 hour nap I cleaned 21 cats 6 striped bass and 3 frogs. And by the way, the frogs were good.

09-13-2005, 07:45 AM
BTW, The tourney was advertised very well on Base. I don't like them because of the bad rep the bass guys give them. That is a rude group. (Don't sling mud, I call them as I see them) I was only interested in it when I learned that there were only 2 teams involved. Paul said he would have another one when the weather was better suited for cat fishing. He mentioned Nov and Jan. I'll keep my ears open and let you know. I got my Abu's back yesterday so I'm back up to full power.

09-13-2005, 08:36 PM
Rob a small torney like that one would be okay. NO more than 10-15 boats would be good. I would fish in that, and I am like you, I don't want to be like the bass fisherman. Or thought of like the bass fisherman. lol

sgt_rob
09-13-2005, 10:17 PM
I hate to assume that all bass fishermen are like the ones that I run across at Clark's but it has happened more than once so I begin to stereotypw a little.

When we were coming up to the ramp Saturday morning we had a guy troll right in our path and stop dead in front of us; we went around him. We were coming up to the empty ramp (for boats shorter than 18') and had to do a little evasive manuever because "Mr Bass" wanted to throw his $35,000 bass boat in reverse without so much as looking backwards; what a concept. When he did realize we were behind him, did he slow down, stop or change direction? Nope, the little 14' jon boat was in his way and needed to move.

It is action like that that marks an entire group. I figure we all have the rep as being "eaters of bottom feeders" but at least we aren't the "bottom feeders".

You said it so well. I have known a few of these bass fisherman in my life and I am sorry, I don't like sitting around chewing the fat with them. They tend to have to big a head for me. I like to get where I am going, but I try to go out of my way and not bother others. Oh well, I hope we don't ever get that rep around here.

Hey guys, Rob, the news of Gertrude has warmed my heart. I've only got two more essay papers to write and then I'll be through unless the prof gives us some more homework. I'm just about to get caught up with everything I think (now that's a scary thought, me thinking) anyway I'm hoping to make a trip to the Red before too long.

Rob, have they ever figured out what happen to your rod? How's the river? With the water level down low can you still run ok up past the pumphouse or do you need to run slow? What about 12 mi bayou have you done any good up there?

Tony, I know what you mean about the pay, I used to ref softball and it ain't nothin you can retire on, won't hardly pay the gas now days. I like the pic of the buck! I see you've been fishin below the ramp some, are there any areas I need to know about?

Ok, time for me to get back to homework, hope to see everybody real soon, ya'll take care and good fishin and hey guy's, good fishin, that don't mean sightin in those deer rifles on bass boats, hummm interesting thought.

Hey Tony I have a brother in law coming up from Ms this weekend, and also a son in law. They are wanting me to take them fishing this weekend. Have not had any luck at Clark's and had little luck at Cash Point. Do you have any ideas as to what part of the river I should take them to to maybe get in a decent day of fishing?

Ty, The water level is actually UP. I guess if you don't let any out then it will eventually accumulate. The pipe I normally tie my line off to has been under water for a while. What happened to my rod? I pinged a Mod about it and he said he would check on it but haven't heard anything about it yet. You need to come on down in a couple or three weeks since it is getting so cool and all. Your dinks are still there. I turned a few loose this weekend.

Joebull, Fishing is tough right now so any place is as good as the other. Be flexable on bait selection but shad seem to be doing the best right now. I've had days where if I didn't have Danny Kings in the boat, I would have come home empty handed but then days when DK wouldn't catch its own smell. If they aren't hitting, move or try elevating the bait off the bottom some. I had better luck going straight down to the bottom and then cranking up a couple of turns. You can get the same results if you put a float 8" up from you hook with enough weight to take the whole mess to the bottom when you cast. As Tony will tell you, "Find the current and you will find the fish"

Good Luck

Hey Joebull, find the current. I caught good weekend before last before dark about 20' off the bank on the clean side of the river just below Cash Point in 8' of water. I was on the short side of a bend. After dark, they shut down to nothing. So I through jugs and did not do good at all on them. A buddy of mine went on down river a mile and set up on the short side a bend in 12' of water with good current and caught a 17.5 high back blue. I dont know for sure how many they put in the boat, but it was over 30 fish I think. Any way we were using shad. I was using whole little ones, my buddy was using cut biggens. Just keep moving till you find fish, and stay in the current. Make sure to keep the shad on ice or cool. Good luck and I hope you catch a pile of them. I have already eaten up the 18 I caught 2 weekends ago. In fact ate them up two days later. LOL.

Thanks I'll try and do my best to get them on some of the big Red cats that are in there. I heard we have a cold front coming in this weekend its supposed to be a bone chilling 93 degrees. Might have to pull out the insulated coveralls.

We got a delivery in from WA today and the truck driver said he had been driving in heavy rain through OK so we might get some real good current in a few days. I feel an all-nighter coming on. Don't I always! Any reason I can find to fish all night is a pretty good one I my book. It's 5 o-clock somewhere.

Rob I am hope they don't ever put leagal fishing hours on us. You will become the biggest out law there is. LOL. Man I guess I am to lazy or did it for to many years, them all nighters kill me now. It is a good thing you don't bass fish, you would never sleep. It is raining here now. Not heavy, just steady. This will put some current in the river if they got as much as the trucker said up north. The Red will flow again.

Got just about every thing ready, just a few minor things to do. Like put up my bow stand and such. LOL. I have so much left to do on the lease till I don't think I will get through before season opens. Oh well. One of these days every thing will come together. I will get with you on the camp out coming up Oct 1.

Hey everyone,
I haven't caught anything worth mentioning on the Red in 5 weeks. I'm going at sunup Tuesday morning. Planning on using large cut shad and thawed catalpa worms. Does anyone have suggestions on what the cats are doing. I'm catching the heck out of goos but can't get a catfish to save my life. I'm going to be in the shallow water (6-8 ft) out from the sandbars north of Jimmie Davis on the Shreveport side. The last time I fished there I caught about 10 soft shell turtles. I've got a fish fry coming up and it's going to be pretty sad if I have to buy filets from Kroger. I could kick myself for giving away so many bags of frozen filets earlier in the spring.

I'll let yall know how it went tomorrow p.m.

Alsey, find current. No matter how far north you have to go, find current.

thanks for the advice but I don't have a boat. I'm going to have to make due from accessable sand bars or rock jetties. I've been in mild current on the Bossier side but the bite is slow or non existent for the last month or so.

try to see if you can find any way to get up under the 220 bridge. The water is shallow up there and the current is still up a little even when there is non at the I-20 bridge. We caught fair out of cash point a few weeks back. good current. That is the key this time of year. I don't think we are going to ever get a good current again down here. :crying: I have not seen the river this low for this many years in a long time. I am use to having it roll till July and then start again in Sept coming up again and having good current.

We are in great shape. The first layer of sandbags and some constant clearing of the temporary trench around the back of the house kept us dry. Luckily, we didn't get what we expected out of this storm. We were prepared for it and as a result, weren't scared. We got a jump on most folks around here in getting ready. When I was buying sand Friday morning and the salesperson aske me what I was going to do with all that sand. Eight hours later, people were in line for sandbags. We bought our food and gas Thursday about 5:00 pm before things got crazy. I went into a couple of stores Saturday and was glad that part of out prep was over. I'd rather be safe than sorry. We only spent $6.00 over what I normally would have spent on supplies for the month, I just bought more than I normally would have. The $6.00 was on 6 yards of fabric to ssew sandbags.

Glad everything went well for you Rob. Like you, I made our preparations early and was blessed that the storm went away from us. We had one report that the storm's eye would pass right over top of us around the Waskom area but it turned and we ended up on the good side if there's such a thing. We lost power for about six hours or so and I was surprised when it came back on as soon as it did. Got some limbs to clean-up but everythings well in Crossroads. I guess that maybe the river will rise some now and get a little current. If I get the rest of my papers written this week I'm hoping to come fish friday night. Hope everyone is doing ok. See ya'll on the site and Good Fishin!! Tony, sure hope your trip went well and all is good around your Ponderosa.

Well before I could get on the road headed south, they called back and rerouted me to Athens La and then Juntion City Ar to put out generators. I got home at 12:30am Sunday morning and was back up and out at 5:30am Sunday morning and just got back home. I have a to be up and out at 6am in the morning getting ready to go to Glenmorea La to put out generators. My truck caught on fire today and I had to put it our so I have to get another truck and reload everything and head out. I will see yall when I get back. I don't know what I will do or find, but I bet we can keep people talking. See yall

Tony, you be careful out there. I'm kinda particular who I consider to be a friend, besides not everyone wants a preacher as a friend, unless they need to marry or bury. You and Rob I consider as friends, so be careful, roasted Tony doesn't sound very appealing. The preacher's wife said to tell you that when the moon is right the fish will bite! Wonder where she came up with that! Take care and God Bless.

Fishing Friday night? Sounds like a plan. I'll sure try to be there if there is current in the river. I'm gassed up and just need to throw the rods and coolers in the boat. How did the crawfish bait and traps work out for you Ty? I have plenty more where that came from. Just say the word and you can have more if you want it.

Hey Rob, You know they say that real friends are always honest with each other and since your one of the two I have in Louisiana, as much as I hate to admit it, I haven't tried it yet. I knew it was going to be awhile before I got the chance to come back over and fish and I just haven't set out any traps. Still got the bait and I'm still going to use it but before I do, I've got to build myself another trap with some smaller mesh then I did on the last one. The last one worked but only held the really large bream, the small ones just pigged out then swam back through the mesh and I like fishin with the smaller bream on my R&R. It still looks iffy for friday night, there are some things still up in the air I don't have control over so I'll just have to wait and see. If I see I'm going to make it do you want me to call you on the cell and let you know? How's the current? Did the rain help? We''ll best get back to doin the stuff I gotta do. Catch ya later and Good Fishin!!

hi everyone sorry i haven't posted lately but i haven't been fishing lately, I hope to go next weekend. No real problems with rita I had a trailer load of sand and bags ready to go if the storm stopped. I'm glad we did not have to use them. Good to see everyone else came out ok. Hope to start fishing again soon.

Ty, I haven't looked at the river lately but there should be a little water in it from Rita's Wrath. If not, it will still float a boat. I suppose It is up in the air with me too. Give me a call if you decide to come and that will get me out there.

Good to see you back online Tom

We did OK Saturday morning. We started around 8:00 and had an 8lber and a 6lber in the cooler by 8:30. We had to move, at the request of my dear wife, because nobody else was catching fish and didn't catch another fish for 2 hours. We ended up with 9 cats by Noon. Four of them were around the foot mark, the largest was around 25".

Sunday we made it out at 7:00 and weren't so lucky. We caught a few Goo; the largest was a 7lber on 6lb line. We only took one 1 1/2 lb cat home. There was a ba$$ tourney going on and you know how much I luv those guys. We couldn't keep the boat anchored from all the waves. Called it quits around 1100.

The water temp has dropped dramatically. We have to figure out what that did to all the fish and where they are hiding.

Hey Rob, I like the pics, bet they cooked up real good. Had to do a funeral this past weekend so I couldn't come fishin. Got a health fair this next weekend at the church and then school the next. Maybe I'll make it out on the 23rd. Told my wife I was goin fishin if nothin else comes up. Cooler water temps will have moved the fish. Where were you fishin? Sometimes when the water begins to cool they will move up to shallower water and structure.

sgt_rob
10-04-2005, 07:24 AM
Yep, we have been fishing different waters. We tried the shallow/structure and didn't catch many so we moved to a 30' hole in an outside bend and latched into a few. I've been fishing South of Teague lately down around that new house on the West bank.

Hey guy's My son in law and I put out at Cash Point Sunday after Church fished for about 4 hr. caught 18 cats biggest was 8 lbs. smallest 2 lbs. Plenty of shad in the 4ft. to 6 ft. of water. We did catch 1 Goo that weight around 14 lbs. Not a bad day considering we were only out there 4 hrs.

Hey fellas, been a while. Thanks Rob and Ty, he was 5 weeks early but was still a 6 pounder:) . Rob I went out for a couple hours Sat. night after I talked to you and caught 8, the 2 I threw back were 4 inches, 4 were between 12 and 15 inches, 1 was 18 inches, and 1 was 26 inches. All on whole shad just north of the mansion below Jimmy Davis bridge. I hope with the cooler weather this weekend that the fish will be jumping in the boat.

10-09-2005, 07:44 AM
They might be jumping in the boat but it ain't mine! We fished for 7 hours yesterday and didn't put a single cat in the boat. We fished in the channel, in the snags, and just off the bank in the shallows up 12 mile bayou. If we go out this morning it will be the Pump House and North. We did have fun catching bream and Logan was trying to fish with his new fly rod for a while.

Hey Rob, see there when you listen to me you come home with fish, I told you that dynamite would work!!! Hehehe!! Man you sure know how to rub it in. I can't get to the river to fish to save my life. Told the boss I was just going to have to take some vacation time just so I could go fishin! He told me sure, I could have all the time I needed, when I retired! I've got school this weekend but next weekend I'm planning on coming over. My luck, it'll be 20 degrees with a north wind at 40 mph and pouring down rain. Hadn't rained in months, but you just wait and see, if nothing else comes up to keep me from coming over, it'll rain!! Ok, we're buds, right?? You've got to fill me in on the details, Ok? Where, how deep, what bait, what time, and how good do they taste! I know, I'm a glutton for punishment but it seems like this is as close to fishin as I'm gonna get. GREAT CATCH!!! I loved the pics, heck I almost forgot what one looked like and I know you had a blast. Time to get back to my homework, see ya and Good Fishin!!!

Ty this might hurt a little but I was in your neck of the woods up around Gertude's old hang out with noodles. I floated all the way to the pump house then hit a little shoot off 12 mile bayou for a while. After I picked up the kids, we went below the Jimmy Davis bridge for a while. It was fast action before 9:00 am then slowed down quite a bit. I might have let 15 dinks go Monday, they didn't seem to mind the big hook and 1/2 shad.

Yea it hurts, but they say the gain is worth the pain! I've got the pain if I could just figure out what the dog gone gain is!! Glad to know that north is picking up a little. If I'm able to make it next friday, I'll probably start by Gertrude's old hang-out and take it from there. Hope to be able to pull an all-nighter. Need to catch something to help my team or ain't nobody gonna want to fish with me in these online tourny's anymore. I've signed up for the one in november if we get enough people. This ones going to be a channel cat by rod and reel only. If nothin else at least I contribute to the prize fund. Are the shad still running up past the pumphouse like they were in the summer? We'll let me get back to doing what I gotta do instead of what I wanna do! Catch you later on the site, probably the only thing I catch!! Good luck and Good Fishin!!
