Anyone know if Dale Maffit reservoir near W.D.M. has any good catfish these days?
I haven't fished there in 20+ years but was thinking of trying it when I go home to visit family.

It has been many years since I have fished there myself. I have heard that bank fishing can be difficult there these days. Might want to check with the Iowa DNR about the lake's particulars. Good luck.

Maffit is a nice place to take toddlers as blue gills and other small fish are prevalent. I have tried to catch channel cats there and never had any luck. A better bet would be Lake Aquibi south of Indianola as I hear the catfishing is real good. Boats with small motors are allowed on Aquibi.

Only bank fishing is allowed in Maffit due to the City of Des Moines using it as a backup water supply.
