Mushrooms? - anyone been finding any morels?

has anyone been finding any morels.
this is my 1st year trying. went out today and found 5.
however those were my first findings ever!!!!!:big_smile:
right by one of my cat spots too.
does anyone have any tips, pointers, anything will help, seeing that i'm a rookie.

I haven't been out yet, but it's time. I'm heading up to Houghton Lake this Friday, maybe I'll get a chance to walk in the wood.
Tips, find some old dead elm trees and look around the base. Old Apple orchards are a good spot to. The main tip, is when you find them, don't tell anyone! LOL. When your hunting them, use a mesh bag to carry them in. Two thing happen then. They air out nicely, and you also drop a little Shroom Spore on the ground.

I went out this morning for a little over a hour, I didn't find a one.

I got 28 morels the other night on my property, and 8 a couple nights before that. They were all black morels.

here in ohio 2 weeks ago i found about 40... my cousin found 2 the other day that filled his mesh bag up... about 10-12 in each:ooooh:

That puts my total to about 55 this year so far.

my mom called- she found 10 in Deckerville in the back yard this morning.
