Welcome to the BOC BigTim, I am from the middle of the state and don't know much about fishing up close to you. The big rivers seem to be the home of the really big cat fish. The Rock rive up there is a river known for catfish along with several lakes. Good fishing.

I have a friend who works for the DOC and he told me that there are more 30 lb plus fish caught on the Kankakee river than anywhere else in northern IL

I know its a late greet but...welcome to the site.Streamwood,huh!I went to highschool there.Anyways i live not too far from you and go cattin` all the time.The best spots to hit near you are:The Fox(try Elgin,St.Charles and Geneva),Rock River(of course!!) and some nearby lakes.For the lakes,try the lake in Harper College.They seem to have some decent channels there.

Streamwood is in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.About 35min west to be exact.
