OK,
I know at least some of you fished this past weekend. Where are the reports? We want to hear about your fishing. Good, bad, or otherwise. Catfish, crappie, bream, bass, or anything else. Lets here it Arkansas.
SquirtsPop, I know you fished Friday night. Lets hear a report.
I didn't get a chance to fish this weekend. I had a committment Saturday for our yearly planed company outing and didn't get home in time to fish. I plan on cleaning up my boat and having it ready for Friday afternoon and hopeful Saturday morning. Nothing in concrete yet but planning on wetting a line sometime late this week.

This (http://www.catfish1.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7944&d=1145410197)was posted last Tuesday, in case you missed it.
Went out before breakfast to do a little crappie fishing. Crappie was slow, only caught a couple then this little fellow hit. I had a great 10 minutes getting him in using a light crappie spinning rod/reel, 4 lb line and a small crappie hook with a little red minnow.
7lbs 4oz.
I couldn't get the link to the post to work, only the image.

olefin,
I did miss that catch somehow. I'll bet the striper put up some fight on that light tackle. Nice catch.

I use Irfanview, which you can download from this site (or at least you used to be able to). All you have to do is open the picture, click on Resize and change the size. If you don't have the 'preserve aspect' box checked, you can end up with some really funny looking pictures, so be sure it's checked.

I caught a mess of skipjack Monday afternoon. Noticed that the power plant was generating so had to check it out. The water was flowing but not hot. My daughters and I caught about 45 in about 1.5 hours. Also caught one baby bass. We dropped anchor on the AR side of the river and fished a ledge for about 20 minutes. Didn't get a tap. Ran low on daylight and headed in.

Hey folks,
Nice reports. Olfin, that is a nice flat. Joe, two good looking little girls you have there. Real happy to see you have them fishing. Jim, that was a good night you had there. Thirty plus pounds and nothing real big makes some real good eating. Lets keep the reports coming. I am hoping to get on the river this weekend. However, the weather folks are calling from rain Saturday. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it is.

Tim Griffis fished at Wilbur Mills over the weekend. He said the water flow was high on Saturday but shut off on Sunday. The fishing success followed the water flow. Below are the results of Saturday.
Tim said to tell everyone hello. He isn't able to get on the board from work any more and doesn't have (or want) the internet at home. That is his son in the pic.

Yes, they were caught on live bluegill. Last night I put out 3 lines with 3 hooks on each. This morning found one line with a broken nylon cord leader, the flat and bass were on another line and one line is hung up under water wrapped around a dock post. With my camera I can see a channel cat on it down about 8 foot.

Set some shortlines on the Red river the 24th and 25th. We caught around thirty head. Only 3 flatheads in the bunch. Storm blew in early tues. morning and soaked every thing plus blew the tent in. We decided that discretion was the better part of valor and pulled our lines then hotailed it to the truck.
Tiger
Tiger, what was you using for bait?

Well, I had planned to fishing today but the rain has put that off. We need the rain so I don't really mind. I do need to fish but we need the rain worse than I need to fish.
Yeah Tiger, what were you using for bait? Short lines? Would be interested in a description of you short lines to see if their anything like our (my fishing partner and I) short lines. Mine are really a mutation of a limb line. Line is about 20 ft long with five hook per line. Tie one end to a nice limber snag or limb, weight on the other end. That way we can move the line to fish the most productive depth. Shallow, mid-depth, or deep.

Hey Tiger welcome to the Brotherhood. That sounds like a pretty good trip even with the rain. What part of Arkansas are ya from?

Sarge and Arkie,
We were using cut gizzard shad during the day and cut shad or live perch at night depending on the set.
The short lines we use are from 3 to 10 hooks, 4/0 to 9/0 depending on the set. We generally use a #36 leader from the bank to get as far out as we need to be then a 1 1/2 to 2 lb middle weight after the fist 2 hooks. We anchor the end with a window weight. Noticed in another thread that you had your cotton staging broken. According to the regs this year a cotton staging is no longer needed as long as you tag your mainline.
Seedtick,
I live in Texarkana. Guess I'm lucky to have acccess to alot of good lakes and rivers close by. I also fish on the Texas side quite a bit.

I went to Osceola today and fished the Mississipi, we put out about 12 set hooks and ended up with 6 channels weighing anywhere from 4 to 7 pounds. We caught them on threaded on shinners.
I posted this in the hotwater outlet thread because I was fishing at the outlet. The fishing trip was 3 May 06

went below 13 today, they were really running water , about 75000. it must have really excited the cats caught 8 in about 2 1/2 hrs from 1lb 7 ounces to 6lb 13ozs the best i've done in a while cutshad was the bait. probably could have had more but the game warden stopped and talked for quite some time. he said last week they really tore them up.

I fished outside the Dardanelle nuke inlet for a couple of hours and got no bites. Then I went into that cove you cross over if you are driving to the outlet boat ramp. Caught 3 nice blues on cut skipjack
I do not understand where you are talking about . Were you at the hotwater outlet.

Me and the wife went over to the hot water discharge yesterday at Nuke 1 and gave em a whirl. We carried some minnows because I thought by the way the fish were busting the water we would tear them up. Well we couldn't give away a minnow. What we caught we caught on crappie jigs and shad. Janet caught 10 stripers about a foot long and on ultra-light rigs in that current they were a blast. We also anchored for a while and she caught 1 little channel and we got a few more bites. As for me, I caught 1 little largemouth and watched her catching all the fish. We sure had fun.

I went out this morning crappie fishing but no crappie, but I'm not complaining for I caught a 4.5 lb Hybrid and a one lb. Both on 9 ft broken crappie rod,(I stepped on it this morning, LOL) I lost two good ones due to them hanging the line in the brush and breaking the line on the their side.
Last week was out once... caught one 2 lb stripper, a 2 lb hybrid and a 3 lb Largemouth. I don't know what's happen to the crappie?
I see the local crappie guide is catching crappie but no bass or strippers.

Went fishing on AR river at Terry Lock and Dam last night before the storm hit. Caught 2 6# blues and a 9# striper on skipjack fished off the tips of the wing dams. The river wasn't rolling too bad. I think they were running 50000 cfs. Ill bet its going to be rolling the next few days after the rain last night and this morning.
