Grandparents lived in Uncertain, Tx on Caddo Lake and spent summers with them starting in 1960. My brother and I still meet there several times each year to fish and enjoy the lake.
They do have a mercury problem there and suggest you not eat more than four ounces of fish caught there per month.
Most beautiful lake I have ever fished and we love spending time there.
It is now a wild life refuge and protected.
We usually stay on the Texas side.

I believe the advisory pertains only to bass and freshwater drum. The main concern is for youngsters and pregnant women. Four ounces once a month for them, and eight ounces once a month for other adults, of the forementioned species. Any doubts about what to eat, you can check the TPWD site. When I can only eat eight ounces of fish, I think I'll be a tee totaler on fish. That won't even get me started.
