The life of a catfish is dark and strange. Dirty muddy waters across unseen haunts, hiding mysterious objects behind a one-way mirror. They grow fairly quickly and can exceed 100 lbs. as records have clearly shown. These whiskered creatures favorite hangouts include dams, trees, wrecked boats, logjams, and strong riprap (current). All of these have self-explanations.
Catfish angling these days has been split into several groups: Some prefer depthfinders, sme hunt them down manually, or some base it on another anglers advice. These animals have so many different ways of catching them to like grabbling, jugging, natural bait, dipbait, and trotline. Grabbling can be a very painful & sometimes dangerous way to get them. Catfish have rough lips which can scrape you so bad you bleed. It can be easy, or hard for different folks.
Also catfish have a growing situation they face that is getting worse by the day. Most of tournament bass fishermen know how tremendous catfish can grow and how a large cat loves a largemouth for dinner "especially a flathead". So seeing a decline in catch rates and potentially bass population they hire these guys to go and catch "sometimes even do it themselves" these cats and let them die so they will decrease in population and save the bass. What they dont realize is catfishing is growing in popularity and that is one of the main forage of the catfish. Doing that is just plain cruel, cuz a catfish doesnt have a mind to know better. Either way you take it things have got to be done about it and if you love catfishing as much as I and a lot of other people do you will put your foot down and make a stand at www.catfishrescue.com (http://www.catfishrescue.com/) by signing the petition. Its your sport, if you dont want them extinct, save them.
