Late last winter I put a spinner type feeder out, when the antlers started growing this summer I noticed that lots of does and only a couple of small bucks were using the feeder. In a few of the pictures I'd see the better bucks in the background, but none came to the feeder. I saw the bucks running together several times in the area, so I knew they were around. I went about 400 yards south of the feeder and went to pouring 5 pounds of corn a day on the ground by a pond, the pictures of the good group of bucks I've been posting. Well the first of the week the spinner feeder was empty and I figured the bucks were used to eating at that spot by the pond so I moved the feeder over there. 5 days in a row, no bucks, plenty of does but only one of the smallest bucks, yesterday I moved the spinner feeder to a different place and poured some corn on the ground and guess what, the bucks are back.

Pea patch buck has shed his velvet too.

I thought so too, but I looked back at my pictures from the last 3 years and all were about the same time. Last week of Aug.

I agree Sam. I think a lot of people are missing what you are saying. Mature deer will not come to mechanical feeders very often. At least not as well as if poured on the ground. There is a guy in Arcadia, La. making a silent feeder that drops kernels a few at the time. If it works I'll let people know.
