fished from the bank yesterday dropped my bait in front of a logjam that was making an eddy. first time i tried circles. not sure what was goin on lol..... my rod bent pretty sharp at one point, but thats about it. i think the water is still too cold and the river was goin down wich never seems to help any. it was nice to get the dust off everything though. i'll keep everyone posted, but i doubt i'll get out again anytime soon. supposed to snow:mad:

you could probably find some suckers or sturgeon, just go fish the mouth of a creek. i caught a couple suckers a few weeks ago.

just wanted to know where some of the better spots to launch a boat on the wabash are. i have never fished it before, but plan on going there quiet a bit this summer.

Baitfish, I went right around the lockport bridge in between there and the next bridge west from there. They quit hitting right when the sun went down.

My buddy from Lafayette went down to the Bash today and caught 7 Blues from 8 to 10 puonds. His father in law caught a fathead carp and they cut a big chunk out and used it for bait. He almost lost his pole on the first cast. It was a deep hole next to a downed tree. He was only there for 1.5 hours. the wind was howling, go figure. He got of work early and was just farting around.

Fished the Wabash today, launched south of Pittsburg. Caught nine channels all on shad guts all between 15 and 21 inches. They are really starting to turn on. Just a note the Tippecanoe River is full of dead shad right now and the live ones are in huge schools. I believe that shad guts, or cut, or whole shad is the way to go right now. The fish that I have kept are stuffed full of them!!

So, with all this flooding should we be getting out fishing? Where do the fish go with high currents/flooding like this? I would gues any kind of slack water???

This is my first post and I'd like to thank all members who've offered great tips and advice on this site. I'm catchin more and better catfish than ever from what I've read and learned here! :)

Anyway, I love fishin for flatties and usually have better luck on the Wabash. A buddy and I fished it last weekend and only caught a few baby channels. Is anyone getting flatheads around Lagro, IN?

Just came back from the wabash. Caught 3 nice channels, biggest went 18lbs. all on cut chubs. Fished my best flathead spot and had no hits at all on live gills:sad: The channels came from a spot where a rocky flat goes out into the river but is usually not under water. Water depth was about 3 feet I would say. Channels turned off like a light at around midnight.

Thanks shortbus. Nice channel! I've caught most larger channel using cut chubs - biggest was 9#. You catch any bigger than 18?

RE: flathead, I read a post from a BOC member who caught a 40+ LB flathead on the wabash (near Lafayette?) a week ago. No mention of bait used.

Like you, I used live gill in my fav spot but no hits. Any ideas?

Appreciate the welcome Jim! I fish outside Lagro up river from where the wabash and salamonie rivers join. Popular spot for many who like flats, blues and channel. Walleye fishing pretty good there too.

One of my fishing buds lives in Indy. We been talking about fishing the white river 'cause we read and hear a lot about good flats caught. We're not real sure where good spots are though.

just wanted to know if anyone ever fished up by covington or around montezuma. wanted to know if there are some good fish through there. i know its a river and changes all the time, i was going to launch the boat and cover about a 15 to 20 mile stretch to find some decent log jams. so if anyone has any info let me know

shortbus

buckeater, I've never fished that area but I'm just up river from you around lafeyette/delphi. We have some good fish up here so I would think that area is just as good. Just find some logjams and tight bends in the river.

the wabash stats go like this--- layfayette = may 10 she was at 4 ft.--may 14 she was at 15 ft. you wont be splasing in the bash there for a few days, unless your mentally unstable! lol

--- logansport = on the 10th she was at 4ft -- 14th was at 9ft.

sorry no stations in between. if i knew how to post a link for you guys it gives the reading to analyze. just put in indiana stream flows and hit search you'll find it. (real time stream conditions)

you guys ever try the confuence of the ell n bash rivers when its like this? i bet its slamin around there now. i would bet ,frick-spring and mad creeks are over flowing with feeding cats.
