Welcome to the BOC! Check out the Mississippi thread under States. There's usually some good stuff there about fishing the big river.

Roy,
Welcome to the BOC. If you look at the thread under Baton Rouge Area you will get a feel for how we do. We are not experts by any means, but we catch our fair share in the BR area. Hope we can get out there soon.
Do you fish from a boat or the bank? The river has changed pretty dramatically over the last couple of years where we fish also. Fortunately, though, the fish have pretty much remained in the general area that we fish. River level makes a difference, water temp makes a difference, but I'll be darned if I can predict too much from it. We just have to get out and wet the line and normally we bring home some fish. We fish about 20 mi downstream of BR, normally in an eddy where the main channel meets the eddy. Good luck.

Welcome from Missouri. I prefer to fish the rise rather than the fall myself.

Denis, We fish from a boat and we launch right down from the casino. We have fished the grain elevator and had pretty good luck. There is a few places down the river that we fish too. We have a 16 1/2 polar craft aluminum, so we down go too far down that river. Thanks for the info.

Judging from your pic and post, it looks like you have lots of help fishing. It is really great to enjoy the fishing with the family. We have a blast when we get the wife and kid(s) out there. They don't go too often. We have enjoyed some wonderful times out there.
Roy, welcome to the BOC/SOC :cool2:, best catfishing site on the web! be sure to check out the library, a lot of good info in there.
You might post this in the Missouri section, those boys deal with this every year. Hit the back current areas and the back waters during high waters, those fish can't fight that current constantly so they will be holed up in current breaks of some kind.

Denny, You are right, I am just as happy if not happier when She or my boys hook into a big one. My little one is only 1 1/2 old and he goes with us. Not in the river , but in the lakes and canals. I can tell he is going to be a handful. His older brother is no problem ,but this little guy is gonna be tough.
