Welcome Greg.
I don't fish below the damm much. To many boat restrictions for me.
From what I here it is all good.

In a word, yes. The state record flathead came from the St. Croix, and there are some darn chunky channels in there, too. I don't fish it much myself, but I know some guys who do really well with both cat species on the Croix, from the falls down to the confluence. Big river = big fish. Find the snags and fish 'em.

I would love to try fishing down there I have only fished above taylor falls. Also the thought of hooking into a flathead is great, I have never caught on just channels. Anyone have any suggestions of where to put a boat in and where to try?
